Also noticed that some of the main dishes are offered at half size and price for adventurous children, this alongside the children's menu. So friendly and accomodating, brilliant idea.

Base restaurant in a word … DIVINE. A notch above all other local restaurants.
A standout dining experience in Ulverston tucked away from the main centre. It’s a proper foodies, little hidden gem. It’s also opposite the most quaint community garden at Forde Park - if you go at lunchtime the gate will be open. A nice stroll around the quaint garden
for 10-15mins before /after in the summer months.
We’ve been trying for 4 years to visit to coincide with the tasting menu but every year it’s either full or the dates clash in July.
My partner & I both ordered the chicken Kiev with serious slithers of black truffle on a pomme purée base and gorgeous greens for lunch.
I would go as far as to say … If I had to pick a last supper this would be it. A simple dish elevated by a talented chef.
I wish we lived closer to this restaurant as I would be a regular. Thank you to the staff / owner too as they couldn’t have been more welcoming, very relaxed people whilst being attentive to every detail.

Didnt pop in for food but to have a chat with Mark the owner organising my sons wedding in August. Very helpful and talked through everything needed for the day. Wonderful venue for an intimate gathering for special occasions.

No words could do justice to the exceptional 7 course monthly menu we had the pleasure of trying last night! Every course was pure perfection - if you love food you need to pay this gem of a restaurant a visit. I’m still thinking about every course - mackerel tartare was sublime, the lamb was the best I’ve ever eaten and the desserts .. sensational!

There are no words to convey just how amazing the 7 course menu we sampled last night! Having been to these nights on several occasions (and absolutely loved them all and all the courses!) last night surpassed these! The mackerel tartare topped with pickled Kohlrabi was a sensation, the lamb was the best I’ve ever had and the desserts … just wow! If you want an amazing culinary experience in relaxed surroundings this place is for you!

Top Top food, almost michelin star level in a relaxed chic atmosphere, with godo drinks and a very friendly and skilful chef. The presentation was michelin star. The flavours almost. nott cheap, but then great food rarely is ! Scallop starter was 10//10 and trhe prok chop and monkfish mains off the scale

Top top food, great service, lovely atmosphere, superb drinks 5/5, 10/10, 100/100 !! Can't wait to go back. Had the most gorgeous scallop starter and then for our mains, the best pork chop ever and monkfish to die for ! And the sauces - delicious- and the presentation - like Michelin ! Even the potatoes were top notch - chips and gratin. Can't wait to go back.

I had 2 fabulous lunches this week. Food was excellent & good wine choices. The staff we super friendly and efficient. I can't rate the chef and team highly enough. It's now my go to place when I visit the area.

Delicious food, beautiful presentation, generous portions, great menu, reasonable prices, and fanatastic service, The dessert deserves a special mention - the Rhubarb and Custard was such a treat! Absolutely impeccable from start to finish! We had scallops and bao buns to start, followed by mussels and rack of lamb. Although slightly on the higher price bracket for Ulverston, it was well worth the money and actually when you include how good the service was, it was great value. Nice wine too! Will be returning as the rest of the menu looked great too.

Yet again another fantastic experience at BASE :-) Their multi course special menu. This was maybe the best ever. Every course was super, difficult to decide which we preferred (Even the bread course was great.). Excellent value for money as well. The three of us do feel having a pre dessert as well as a dessert course is way too much. The pre was excellent this time. I skipped the other. Also could do without petit four . Still - looking forward to my nxt visit!

Me and some friends went to base for their 7 ciurse chefs menu. It was exceptional! We started with cocktails that were amazing very fresh and tasted too good!. We then had some wonderful fresh cooked bread with whipped butter and balsamic vinegar, this was divine! Great start to the meal. We then moved through the courses each one was cooked to absolute perfection and paired with wine. Each course and wine was introduced by the wonderful friendly staff. My favourite course by far was the duck that was out of the world! We finished the meal with beautiful fresh brewed coffee and sweet treats of marshmallows. We had a vegetarian in the group and each course was cooked beautifully and to the same high standard as ours. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful low playing music and friendly chatter from both the chef and his wonderful staff. 10/10 will definitely be going back!

They had wine pairings for the courses and did a great vegetarian option for one of our table (that we all tried a bit of too).
