We were at my dads in Ulverston for the weekend and it happened to be Valentines so thought better book a meal! Had been to Base before at the end of our walk for a coffee and cake and decided to try the evening there. We were not disappointed and had a wonderful evening which was perfect from start to finish. Atmosphere was great, tables were laid out lovely and it was a full sitting. Food was wonderful servers were great and the Chef did a fantastic job of getting all sittings out at once and to perfection. We spoke with chef at the end of the evening and thanked him saying we would love to return for one of his taster menus at some point. Thank you to everyone at Base!

Visited for the Secret Supper Club and it was incredible. Possibly the best meal I've had. The quality of the food was excellent and trying to figure out what each course was added a fun extra dimension. The chef and they're team were really friendly too. Can't wait to go back.

A great experience, a beautiful setting and a restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. The service was incredible, the waiter providing information and recommendations from the menu, unfortunately can’t remember his name but he is from Newcastle, a great person with the highest level of customer service. The food……… WOW!!!! Food was amazing, the presentation was incredible and the taste was fantastic. I went for the Asian spiced pork belly to start, main of Sirloin Steak cooked to perfection and finished with Sticky toffee pudding which was beautiful too. Highly recommended, a great all round experience.

The best food in the Furness area by far. We've been to the one weekend a month taster meals on a few occasions now and every course has been outstanding. Service is great, as is the atmosphere and I'd highly recommend you give it a try.

We visited the restaurant on Saturday evening for dinner with friends and had a superb time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding. Beautifully presented and extremely tasty, absolutely stunning. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Great that the chef took the time to chat with the customers after the meal. We're looking forward to the next time we visit Ulverston so we can enjoy another visit to the restaurant.

We visited for the set menu night in October, and we highly recommend. Excellent value for money and drinks are very fairly priced. Brilliant food, excellent chef and quality meals.

Sensational Food!! Can’t believe we hadn’t been before tonight. Highly recommend. Wish I could have ordered everything off the menu… (we nearly did) we will be returning for sure.

Treated myself to a fabulous lunch here. The wood pigeon starter was outstanding. The combination of flavors was inspired and delicious. The Eton Mess was scrumptious and I loved the twist of serving it in a range of peaks.

We booked in again for the 7 course set menu again this year (annual holiday) with great expectations and we're not disappointed!
Each course was delivered in a timely fashion with all tables receiving them within a minute or 2 of each other. It was very hard to choose a favourite course as was assembled with expertise in flavours and seasoning beautifully matched.
The service was calm and efficient with each course being described at the table on delivery.
The service team although a couple were somewhat new due to illness and maternity leave were still good with no signs of their lack of experience.
Mark introduced himself to each table prior to service and again at the end of the meal to discuss the courses and make sure everything was enjoyed, and to find out our favourites...

We had the 7 course set menu and from start to finish there was nothing we could fault.
The staff were attentive and welcoming, with two new members of staff this was no mean feat.
The food was so tasty and I really do wish we lived closer.
We would definitely recommend eating here.

Absolutely wonderful blend of flavours in every course. Great wines as well - including those by the glass. Well worth the time and taking a taxi to enjoy fully.

This is definitely a 5 star location. The best food I had in Ulverston and possibly the entire Lakes district. Family friendly, good kids menu and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food and service.

Lovely little eatery at the base of a hill. Great location. Food was presented very well and was very good. Would recommend. Staff were polite, funiture outside was functional if a little uncomfortable. Would recommend.

Had a brilliant brunch here and loved the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I had the eggy bread, which was delicious and perfectly done. The staff were really friendly, and I even got to meet the chef. It’s dog friendly too, which added to the charm. Met a couple of very sweet dogs during my visit. There’s also a lovely garden centre just across the way, which made for a nice wander afterwards. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

A fortuitous find but so glad we did. Walked past on our way to the park/monument & thought we'd stop on the way back for something to eat. Excellent food from an excellent chef. The staff were helpful, friendly & our food was cooked in an open kitchen so we could see the preparation. We have decided that at some point we'll go to the Base restaurant for an evening meal...

We went for brunch service - the restaurant was very quiet due to it being early in the day but the staff were lovely and the food was really very good.
We will head back again to try the evening service, definitely.
