When Is Summer Over?

For those with children or in the teaching profession Summer ends when back to school starts.  For sports fans, it may be the start of the football or rugby season or for those who follow TV patterns, it may be the start of X Factor or Strictly.

Gardeners tend to judge by the weather and blooming patterns.  As seasons often merge into one another the National Gardens Scheme (NGS) use the first weekend in September to showcase their personal gardens and hard work that all the summer has been building up to.

There are many open gardens throughout North Devon for you to indulge yourself in.  With RHS Rosemoor, Marwood Hill (til October) gardens and the Castle Hill estate to name a few, there are other homes where people's passion for gardening can be enjoyed by all, with private viewings.

This gives you the perfect excuse to enjoy those last days of Summer surrounded by all the glory that nature provides.  There are others available in Devon and you could find the one closest to you at: http://www.ngs.org.uk/

So, whenever Summer ends, there is always time to enjoy a garden or work at an allotment, be it yours or someone else’s.
