The Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Foundation is a US Foundation dedicated to developing strategies and activities that empower children in all sectors of society to confront and overcome societal messages about youth.

They do this so that they reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives.  Through its leadership, expertise, and collaborations, the Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Foundation advocates for changes in social policy and public awareness on behalf of youth.

The development of new, interactive activities and partnerships has helped them to take girls and boys to the future they dream of.  Please join them in 2015 as they celebrate their 22nd anniversary!

Designed to be more than a career day or work experience the 'Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work' program goes beyond merely "shadowing" an adult.  Exposing children to what a parent (or mentor in their lives) does during the work day is important, but showing them the value of their own education, helping them to discover the power and possibilities associated with a balanced work and family life, providing them an opportunity to share how they envision the future, and allowing them to begin steps toward their end goals is key to their achieving success.

By bringing children together, everybody contributes to creating a more equitable world - at home, at school and in the workplace.  This year, the foundation are celebrating the opportunities that all children will discover and the opportunities for parents, mentors, and the community to involve themselves in a unique educational experience.

The theme for 2015 is "#MPOWR: Knowledge + Choice = Strength."

Huge advocates of this scheme in the US include Barack Obama (President of The United States) and Goldman Sachs.

Perhaps we should petition the Government for similar day dedicated to showing our children the value of working hard at school, the ability to show them what they could do in the future, to enable them to dream big dreams?

Everything starts small and grows, including ideas and our children!  Just a bit of food for thought!  Anybody who does take a child or their children to work with them, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on the matter!
