Do You Know Where A Defibrillator Is Located In Your North Devon Village, Or In Barnstaple?

A new defibrillator has popped up in Barnstaple’s Pannier market.  It is great that it is centrally located, should it be needed, if anyone experiences a funny turn in Barnstaple’s town centre.  They have also commandeered old and unused phone boxes.  Often they are put up in remote rural areas with the intention of being able to be accessed before paramedics or medical assistance can arrive.

We want to you to tell us if there is one in your village or town.  From Muddiford to High Bickington, Bratton Fleming to Knowle, the more towns you tell us about the more people we can inform.

The hope is that every local resident will be able to find their nearest machine in an emergency and save lives. That life may be your friends, your mum or your next door neighbour.  We know there is one in Pilton, so it is irrelevant how close to North Devon District hospital you are.

Here is a list of defib machines we've been told about:

  • Barnstaple Pannier Market by Cafecinos Cafe
  • Pilton High Street in the Phone Box
  • High Bickington by the Meeting Point - EX37 9BB
  • South Molton have one in the spar shop.
  • The Poltimore Inn pub in North Molton - EX36 3HR
  • Chittlehampton by the church - EX37 9QL
  • Brayford village hall - EX32 7QJ
  • Goodleigh village hall - EX32 7LU
  • Barnstaple Rugby Club - EX31 1JH
  • West Down Community Shop, West Down -EX34 8NF.
  • Bratton Fleming Village Store  - Post code EX31 4SA
  • Atherington by the Church -  EX37 9HU
  • Umberleigh at Village Hall - EX37 9AD
  • High Bullen Hotel Gym Reception
  • Braunton - Cross Tree Centre on the wall of the Mobility Centre 24 hours - EX33 1AF
  • Braunton - Wensley Newsagents inside during opening hours - EX33 1AA
  • Braunton Pixie Dells Stores outside 24 hours -  EX33 1DP
  • Cann Medical Centre during opening hours - EX33 1LR.

What is important is the speed in which you start medical treatment.  If you start CPR as soon as possible and have the defibrillator brought in as extra help, you stand a much greater chance of reviving the person.

So North Devon, lets hear from you – where are the defibs hiding near you?
