Do You Have A Relative Or Friend Struggling With Parkinson’s? We’re Raising Awareness In North Devon.

April 18th is the start of Parkinson's awareness week and there are events throughout North Devon to help support those who care for people who suffer with the condition.

Torrington Hospital is hosting a special day event on the 18th April with specialists on board to offer advice and support.  There are also professionally led therapeutic activities such as exercise classes, movement to music classes and singing classes that are beneficial for health and well-being.

It can really help for those who witness the deterioration of friend or loved one to have an outlet to discuss concerns whether that's a meet and greet or a coffee morning.

On April 24th there is a Walk for Parkinson's at Arlington Court.  This can be a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and connect with people facing the same issues as you.

If you know anyone struggling with the condition or caring for someone that is, reach out to them.  Often the struggle can be overwhelming and can take a real toll on people emotionally.

There is professional help available in North Devon and websites such as http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/ that offer useful information.  However, a cup of tea and a listening ear can go a long way too.
