The UK Armed Forces defend the UK and its interests overseas. Their personnel are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism. Your support for the Armed Forces provides a much valued morale booster for the troops and their families.
So if you appreciate the work of our Armed Forces, have a passion for parades or are a sucker for street parties, show your support for our Servicemen and women this summer by holding an Armed Forces Day celebrations in your community.
Armed Forces Day takes place on 27th June, with a major national event to be held in Guildford, Surrey. With the potential funding of up to £10,000 on offer from the Ministry of Defence, it’s easier than you think to hold your own event locally.
No event or party is too big or small – from a town-wide parade and local fete, to street parties with friends and neighbours, the aim is to help every corner of the UK to show its support for the men and women of the Armed Forces community. You can even channel your passion to give a personal touch to your own event! With our local military connections its hoped some of these centrally held funds will be applied for and used to celebrate our Armed Forces men and women in North Devon.
Applications for the funding MUST be received by 27 March 2015. A maximum of £10,000 is available from the MOD and the funding should account for no more than 50 per cent of the total event cost. Contact by email or phone for more information . ARMEDFORCESDAY-Events@mod.uk or 020 7807 0970.
So get thinking and design an event that allows you and your community to say ‘Thank You’ to our Sailors, Soldiers, Airmen, Veterans and their families - past and present.
