The Royal County of Berkshire Show at the Newbury Showground, not far from Abingdon, is undoubtedly Berkshire’s best weekend. Where else can you see everything from chickens to llamas; horse driving to pig showing skills; taste Britain’s finest foods and watch cookery demonstrations; sample the best craft and watch traditional crafts in action or compare your horticultural skills to the expert displays on show? Come and watch the best in show jumping, the wonderful spectacle of the Livestock Grand Parade and the breathtaking Hot Air Balloon flight at the end of each day. Show 2011 (17th and 18th Sept) Main Attractions:

The Devil's Horsemen This talented bunch of horses and riders will perform gravity defying Cossack-inspired acrobatics on horseback. Watch the riders vault onto their horses and stand in the saddle at a gallop! 

The Band of the Brigade of GurkhasListen to the enthralling sounds of the Gurkha Band. They have toured many parts of the world and performed at both military and public events.

Grand ParadeSee the winners of the Livestock classes parade in the Main Ring and marvel at the sight of the assembled animals who are “best in Show”.

Other HighlightsGreat British Food and Craft; top-flight equestrian showing classes, the pony scurry driving; International Show jumping; the amazing 36 foot tall Wicker Man; The Countryside and Vintage Areas, Military and Sports Zones; amazing floral displays in the Horticulture Tent; The Young Farmer’s Tug of War Championships and to end both days the traditional spectacle of the mass balloon ascent will ensure that the Show ends on a high note.
