Returning to Abingdon after a 15 year break has been a lovely but alarming experience. It’s been so exciting to find out all the new developments, shops and people but alarming to find out how much I had forgotten – especially the road names! In taking over thebestofAbingdon in April I had to get to grips with the geography fast and assumed that I would know where everything was – thank goodness for my TomTom...

It has been a delight to have an excuse to spend time talking to people about their favourite Abingdon businesses and exploring the area anew - especially the coffee shops! I was lucky enough to hit the opening day of Rosie’s Tea Rooms and be offered a glass of Bucks Fizz – as it was also my wedding anniversary that was wonderful! The building has been beautifully converted from a shop premises and now seems as if it had never been anything other than a cosy tea shop. Liz (the owner) is delightful, as was the coffee and scone and I wish her every success.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know EVERYONE and to then be able to showcase all our best businesses with thebestofAbingdon so that everyone can see what gems we have on our doorstep and so enable all of us to focus in and SHOP LOCAL!

If you have a favourite business that you’d like us to know about please email me at abingdon@thebestof.co.uk – don’t keep it a secret!

I love Abingdon and am passionate about promoting the businesses and events that are centred there. I want everyone to realise how great they are and how we should all be using them!
