This month is the start of the business “Rate Break” year, this initiative, brought in by Alistair Darling and continued by the coalition, is a welcome attempt at giving small businesses a hand in these very difficult times. If your business rateable value is less than £6000, then you will enjoy a rate free period from now, for the next twelve months, if your rateable value is between £6001 and £12,000, you can qualify for relief on a sliding scale scheme, some of you may even qualify for a £1,000 windfall rebate!
