Abingdon Splash of Pink Day
4th October 2010

Abingdon turns pink on 9 October this year, when the Abingdon Action Group  hold their annual Splash of Pink Day. It's Abingdon's chance to raise vital funds for Against Breast Cancer and raise awareness of the disease, all while enjoying lots of special fundraising events.

Looking to build on the success of last year's event the Abingdon Action Group are asking the town to think pink for the day and once again, local shops will be piling on the pink balloons and ribbons in an attempt to win the 'best dressed window' prize.

Morris Men will be out shaking their sticks, and belly dancers will be moving to the music. There will be stalls, competitions and lots of ways for visitors and locals alike to show their support for a great local charity - and an important cause.

Last year saw a great carnival atmosphere, and lots of people stopped to watch, joined in, and helped to make the day as special as it was successful.  The Abingdon Action Group were able to raise £4,175 to support the work of Against Breast Cancer.

For those looking to get ahead of the rush and start their Christmas shopping early, the Splash of Pink Day is a great opportunity to buy seasonal cards and gifts, merchandise, cakes and some unique Against Breast Cancer 'morse code jewellery'. Intrigued? Then make a 'dash' for10am in the Market Square, when the fun starts. The best dressed shop is announced at 4pm.
