Wrexham Hospice Nightingale House is organising a 10k run where all the proceeds go directly to its palliative care services.

The charity run is taking place on Sunday 7th April, with a 12.00 start. It will follow a completely-closed route around Wrexham, starting and finishing at the Queensway Athletics Stadium, home of Wrexham AC.

It is the first time the Chester Rd based Hospice has organised such an event, and it is hoping that runners of all abilities will come and support it.

Margaret Hollings, Fundraising and Events Manager, explained “We are very excited about this new event. It is attractive for both experienced and amateur runners and it makes such a difference to be able to have all the roads closed. Thanks go to Wrexham County Borough Council Traffic Management Department, Amberon and JTM signs for their help in making this possible. For those running for fun, we would love to see some fun fancy dress costumes. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Nightingale House Hospice, funding Palliative care for patients in the Wrexham Borough and the North East Wales corridors.”

Nightingale House Hospice offers specialist care services to patients and their families across Wrexham and North Wales. Most of its funding comes from donations and sponsorship, and depends on the generosity of local people and businesses. All of the Hospice’s patients suffer from life-limiting illnesses, and care is  given free of charge to anyone who needs it.

Participants of the Great Wrexham Road Runner need to be 18yrs or over on the 7th April.  Registration is £15 and includes a medal, drinks along the route, full road closure and a goody bag. Every runner will have their own timing chip to record their result.

To register your entry, please go to  www.everydayhero.co.uk or call the fundraising team on 01978 314292.
