There has been much coverage in the local media on the proposed eco town to be built in Long Marsden, Nr Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. See BBC article- HERE.
These plans have been met with anger and protests have taken place at Long Marsden. Those against are objecting heavily about the choice of location. The Eco Town would be set in the rural location of Long Marsden, Warwickshire. So the objections are that this would require a great deal of commuting from those in the 6,000 new homes.
Its fair to say most can appreciate the need for new housing, especially eco friendly ones, but the location here seems to be the big issue. Over £100m has been pledged in investement for the area, but surely only a limited number of new jobs can be created from the development to prevent the need for heavy communting?
