Could declassifying Warwick's A429 be the way to ease congestion in Warwick Town Centre?

James Plaskitt, MP for Leamington Spa and Warwick believes that much of the congestion in Warwick Town is down to the A road status of the A429, meaning that people on longer journeys using Satelite Navigation Systems are being directed through Warwick Town Centre. MP James Plaskitt's campaign is to declassify Warwick High Street (A429) to a B road which would mean people using Satelite Navigation would be directed onto Warwick Bypass instead.

I'm sure most Warwick people would support this if it eased congestion in Warwick Town and made the main street quieter and therefore safer.

However, for this to happen it must be instigated by the local authority before The Department of Transport would consider the issue.
