My partner and I came in here before the football match, our first time in West Bromwich and The Vine had been recommended on a football site. Initially from the outside I though 'oh blimey where are we' but inside I was struck by the really friendly atmosphere despite home and away fans all being together.
We had the bbq for lunch - chicken tikka and naan. Food was top notch. The staff were all really friendly too.
After the footie we couldn't decide where to eat and on going to reception to ask for recommendations The Vine was given, so we decided to head back there in the evening.
Although there were lots of curries and the like on the boards we again went for the bbq! This time we tried maki chicken (i think), tilapai and tikka again. All fab.
It is so nice to go somewhere where the staff are friendly. We have lived in the Cotswolds for 6 years and can barely get a smile from the bar staff in our local pubs, despite at one time going most weeks! At The Vine the staff remembered our drinks from the incredibly busy lunchtime when the pub was packed with footie supporters!
All in all I would say, if you are in the are The Vine is a must.

We visited The Vine over the weekend with friends and family. It is well known locally in West Brom and widely viewed as the place to go for a curry.
From the outside it looks just like any other back street pub, but inside is a surprise. Two large rooms. We sat in the first one which was side by side benching and tables.
The menu is on blackboards down one side. Basically choose your dish, then your sauce then your side - simple. Or you could venture next door and have an Indian BBQ - which they'll cook as you wait.
We had a Goat Curry and Lamb Taka Tak, with mushroom rice and a garlic naan, Afraid we couldn't resist the masala chips - so had a side of them as well.
Food came in good portions, and tasted amazing. This really is the place for a curry when in West Brom!!!
Definitely be back!!!

I remember this as a 'working mans boozer' in a part of West Bromwich that has been severed in two by the M5. Roebuck lane used to carry on towards Smethwick and it became a 'loop' joining on to Roebuck St after the M5 was built. There are a number of large industrial companies on Roebuck St and the workers used this quaint 'tap-room' to 'slake' their thirst after a hard days graft - It's moved on since then!
This is now a busy Pub & Indian Bistro serving good quality Asian food at very reasonable cost. Sounds like a lot of places you've been to, right? - Wrong!! If you mark this place off your visiting list you'll have missed something quite unique - The little boozer still has the Tap Room and Snugs, but at the back there is a busy eating area and bar and beyond that a full on Indian BBQ with more seating (equally busy). This is a great place to relax watching the footy and eat good quality, well cooked sub-continent food in a bustling and convivial atmosphere.
One thing I will mention - the Chef's hand is a little hot, so expect your curry to have a 'kick' and they are not stingy with the portions either, so go easy on the starters unless you're off the 'Man V Food' program
It's imposible for me to liken this place to anything or anywhere else, so just trust me and pay a visit - you won't regret it! \o/

This place gets many recommendations by word of mouth. It is a place in the back streets of West Bromwich (not somewhere you'd stumble upon).
Good choice of beer, curries and barbeque starters at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended by me also!
If you want to try somewhere different, GO HERE!

I 'discovered' this place after seeing it on Match of the Day 2. It's a stone's throw from the Hawthorns and West Brom fans use it to load up before the game on a Saturday. However, it's a brilliant place to go anytime. Loads of guest beers, well maintained and served and in the back there's a unique Indian restaurant with an indoor barbecue where marinated kebabs, ribs and steaks are cooked to order. In addition to a really wide choice of curries and baltis, they also do a great range of Indo-chinese fusion dishes. Highly recommended!

The Vine is situated just off junction 1 of the M5, on a corner where Roebuck Lane and Roebuck Street meet in West Bromwich. Look at it on Google Earth, or walk/drive to it and your first impression is likely to be something like "there is no way I am going to eat in somewhere like that".
Go inside the front door, walk past the front rooms and you will be very surprised to enter a large open room with bar and many, many tables. Then you will see the multiple boards displaying a massive choice of Indian dishes. Then you will notice the price - really cheap.
Order at the bar, grab cutlery and condiments and sit at a table. Within just a couple of minutes the food arrives. Yes, service is that quick. Then you see and smell your food. Next thoughts - how can they do this at the price? The smell of the food is great!
I have eaten here many times and once again had the lunchtime platter which is only £4.95 and consists of chicken tikka, methi chicken, chicken tawa, chicken shaslik, kasmiri & sheesh kebab, chips (salad is available as an alternative) and a dipping sauce. I also ordered an extra portion of the dipping sauce because I love it. This added a whole 15p to the cost.
What can I say? The food is just fantastic, served at lightning speed, awesome value and the staff and service are great. They also always have a couple of really nice real ales on draft as well as several lagers, etc.
You will be shocked how busy The Vine gets. The Vine has been serving Indian food for many years. There is another very large room off the main one that has a BBQ grill and another load of tables.
Be aware of going when there is a West Brom home game, because The Vine gets packed out. Even during the week it gets very busy.
All I would say is, is find it, go in and enjoy it.

I've been here two or three times now, always try to drive up from Worcestershire when I'm in the area. It's well worth the trip. It's a decent looking pub upon entry, with the usual selection of beers and some snugs and tables to enjoy them in. But at the back, there's a restaurant that serves decent curries and excellent grilled Indian food. The Vine has been well-renovated recently, but while that means that the restaurant is much more comfortable to sit in, it's lost a little bit of its old charm (when it looked like a school canteen. Funny, but still.)
I've always liked the vegetarian curries best. Try the sag paneer. As for the grilled stuff, the steaks and methi chicken (marinated with fenugreek) is always the best. Go for plain rice, or a naan bread, as carbs, and you won't go far wrong. For drinks there's always IPA available from the bar.
A veggie curry, something from the grill, a naan bread and a pint will set you back maybe £10-12. And it's more than enough food for one.

It's well worth visting this pub prior to a game, the Bathams Ale is excellent and the Indian Barbecue has to be seen to be believed. Would like to come on a non match day to sample the proper menu.

Although I haven't experienced the full menu, I've been here twice before West Brom v Norwich City games and experienced the remarkable Indian fast food on offer. Basically the open kitchen churns out industrial quantities of fresh ( and very spicy ) chicken Tikka kebabs, which are served with a lovely fresh naan and salad for a ridiculously cheap £5! It's always packed pre match, but it's still worth the effort, not least because its rather Tardis like once you get inside and find more and more rooms!
