Our family group visited this excellent garden setting on a weekend this autumn when the colours on the trees and the general appearance of the garden was splendid. As our family so enjoy our visits to Hestercombe, we have recently taken out an annual membership which has many benefits as well as no-charge access to the gardens for us and half price access to 2 guests. We also enjoyed a refreshing cup of tea in the cafe and my wife bought some very high quality plants in the sale. A well-stocked shop will give visitors an excellent range of gifts and presents to choose from for Christmas and birthdays. On our visits, we have found the Hestercombe staff always friendly and welcoming. I think that we're back there this weekend for another visit with a much larger family group this time who are eager to see what's on offer at the gardens.

I assisted in helping my daughter to arrange her wedding here in Febuary and I can honestly say that I could not fault a single aspect of the service. From the outset I was so anxious for my daughter to have the most wonderful day and when I met Julie I knew she was in safe hands. They state in their advertising that you are looked after from the moment you arrive to the time that you leave to go home and they are true to their word. A truly wonderful day. Thankyou all. X

I have visited Hestercombe many times over the years and am never disappointed. The gardens are breathtaking with fascinating follies and a lovely lake. The Stable Cafe has a delicious, freshly cooked lunch menu and is cosy in Winter, with tables and chairs outside when the weather brightens and in the courtyard is a busy shop full of wonderful plants, cards and gifts. The main house has retained its air of grandeur with a sweeping staircase leading to the art gallery. In the magnificent Column restaurant overlooking the formal gardens you can choose from the a la carte menu or book a traditional cream tea.Theres even a second hand bookshop to enjoy.....really something for everyone, children and dogs welcome.

We absolutely love Hestercombe Gardens and go there regularly.

The food is good, the gardens are amazing and if you want to be out in nature this is the place.

We also got married here and it was perfect.

We visited Hestercombe Gardens by accident when looking for somewhere nice in the Somerset/Quantock area to walk our dogs whilst on holiday. We followed signs to get there which were easy to follow. There is free parking available and dogs are welcome in to most of the grounds etc (think there is just an indoor area that they aren’t allowed in to). The only thing which stopped it being 5 stars is that it cost £11.80 per adult which seemed a bit steep considering we were visiting in January when most of the gardens had died back and weren’t in bloom etc. In the spring/summer however, when gardens are in bloom, I would be happy to pay this price.
That said, this is a lovely place for a walk. The map you are given on arrival shows the various routes etc you can take, each route having little curiosities and buildings for you to look at or have a sit in along your journey. Had we actually planned a trip here properly we would have stayed for longer and explored the other things on offer.

What a lovely place! Friendly staff, beautiful gardens, fantastic facilities, so lucky to have this fantastic place on my doorstep. Online booking means a discount, always a great start. A warm welcome from helpful start makes it even better. Easy to find, easy to park, good map of the site from reception so able to make full use of the gardens. Beautifully planted and maintained, clever planting and imaginative landscaping. Ducks, swans, apple orchard, sweeping views, interesting walks and follys. An excellent cafe and brilliant shop/plant centre. All in all a lovely day out. Top marks!

Lovely visit to Hestercombe, loads of snowdrops, beautiful hellebores, winter aconite and even a few daffodils braving the cold and a hot cuppa at the end to thaw out the extremities! 15% discount by getting tickets online before you go.

The gardens are full of delights - wonderful views, glorious woods, splendid lakes, and a variety of follies. They are arranged over a number of hills, so some of the paths do climb quite steeply. Sensible footwear is advisable - some of the paths can be a little muddy.
