My friend who had broken her ankle was able to hire a mobility scooter for only £4 and we were only charged half price entry which was appreciated. It was pleasant to walk up the hills and see the magnificent views. The lakes and waterfalls were pretty but I have to admit I was disappointed in the formal gardens. We went in the cafe and had a very nice coffee, the chocolate cake my friend had was lovely but the pastry on my tart was soggy.

Very nice selection of cakes but the prices have risen quite a lot I had noticed. Nice cafe though and would recommend for a stroll in the gardens and a cup of tea afterwards.

I recently attended an 80th birthday party at Hestercombe, the food was fabulous, the surroundings stunning, and despite the rain, the gardens looked great

Group visit to gardens on a blustery evening, with Pimms and canapés in the Orangery, followed by excellent meal and service in restaurant. Service by group of young people was well above expectations ( thank you) . Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and would recommend to anyone hosting large group.

Whist the house is not very inspiring the formal gardens are unique in form and design. The imaginative layout as a sunken garden so late in the year was a treat to see. Sadly we did not have time to explore the whole garden so a return visit will be planned for the Spring to fully appreciate these gardens.

We spent hours exploring this exciting and contrasting extensive gardens.
It's a long time since I last visited before the landscape garden was cleared.
They should be really proud of their achievements to date. I hope they to find funding to continue the restoration.
It may seem expensive to enter at £11 an adult but honestly worth every penny and easy to spend all day here.

A beautiful house set in beautiful gardens with lovely walks, and little hidden buildings all the way round.
