The Museum of Somerset is a gem of museum...really interesting local history beautifully presented. I stayed in Castle House apartment owned by the museum for three nights; a spectacularly evocative and charming p-lace to stay in Taunton. Take the behind the scenes tour to go up the tower and secret staircase. Our guide was amazingly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The museum café supplies excellent coffee and cakes as well as light lunches.

Enjoyed my visit and found it very interesting and well laid out, the only problem was finding the way out! It's a bit of a maze, could do with exit signs, two other people asked me how to get out fortunately, a member of staff directed us. Brian.
