A jewel on the edge of Taunton. Beautiful gardens, interesting house and very good cafe. Plant and secondhand bookstore. Good venue for events as well. Like a National Trust really.

We visited Hisercombe House and, overall, I had mixed feelings about the experience.
The gardens are lovely and, as a full time wheelchair user, I was pleased that I was able to get around most of them in my electric wheelchair. There is also the option to hire a Tramper, which is a great facility. If you are using a manual wheelchair, however, I think some areas may be more challenging, particularly depending on the weather.
Parking was adequate and getting around the grounds was generally straightforward.
One area where I felt there was room for improvement was the reception experience. The staff would benefit from some additional hospitality and disability awareness training. A little more understanding of the needs and experiences of disabled visitors would make a real difference to the welcome.
Unfortunately, our visit coincided with a hosepipe ban following a long period of very dry weather. This meant that the waterfall and some of the water themed areas of the gardens were not looking their best. Of course, that wasn't the fault of the attraction, and the gardens were still pleasant to walk around, but it did affect some of the experience.
I was also disappointed with the house itself. The rooms mainly featured an art installation, and I felt that the space could have been used to offer visitors much more, particularly considering the entrance price. I had expected there to be more to explore inside the house.
The café was a much more positive experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was nice.
Knowing what I know now, I probably would have chosen to visit at a different time of year when the water themed gardens were looking their best, as that seems to be a significant part of what makes the gardens special.
Would I go back? Probably not. It wasn't a bad visit, and there were certainly things I enjoyed, particularly the accessible gardens and café, but for the entrance price I expected a little more from the overall experience.

Absolutely brilliant. Thank you Henry and co. for bringing piano back to life. I am delighted, and so is the piano!
Henry is a proper craftsman, enthusiastic about the work he does and very happy to explain it. (He is also an excellent pianist!) When he came to visit to look at the piano, he showed me what was wrong with the instrument and told me how he was going to fix it. While the work was underway, he provided updates from the shop floor. Finally he dropped in again when the instrument was delivered, to check that everything was ok. At each step of the way I knew that the piano was in safe hands.
The piano is now lovely to play. The action is beautifully even and responsive, the pedals are perfect, there are no cracks in the soundboard. The whole instrument feels and sounds new, even though it's over a hundred and fifteen years old.
