A good museum in the castle. Plenty of exhibits. Well designed galleries and a friendly face on arrival. Nice cafe with tables in & out. One of the best attractions in Taunton, and: it's free! ( Donations welcomed )

The museum is an absolute treasure, set in the heart of Taunton.
From it's earliest pure history, through Roman times and beyond, the museum charts the history of Somerset clearly and in an entertaining and informative way.
Try and find time to drop into the fabulous little cafe, for a snack and a drink.
A superb experience all round.

A wonderful museum with its own history. Nice staff. Entrance is free, but you can donate from £5. You can also drink coffee and have a snack on the museum grounds.

Found myself in Taunton with a few hours to spare, so thought I would visit. Really glad I did. A fantastic museum rich in content, and full of surprises. Staff were friendly and helpful and the cafe offered good food at reasonable prices. Even if you have lived in Somerset all your life you will discover something new.

Vern is an exceptional driving instructor! From the very first lesson, he made me feel comfortable and confident behind the wheel. He’s patient, clear in his instructions, and always calm, even in stressful situations. Vern really takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense and builds your confidence step by step. I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor — I passed my test thanks to his great teaching. Highly recommended to anyone looking to learn how to drive the right way!
