Child-friendly musuem. Loved the Half-Term activities - staff are very helpful & interact with the children. Recommend visiting the changing exhibitions (interesting for adults & children). Good food in café (highchairs available); accessible baby-changing facilities; lift for prams/wheelchairs. Not usually open Mondays. Free entry (donation box).

Free to enter, helpful and friendly staff. Exhibition is wide ranging, focused on the evolution of somerset from early beginnings thru the rebellion (lots. On this) and more. We spent a few hours and saw some "one of the oldest" exhibits and "one of the largest in the UK" exhibits, so they do have some decent claims to visit. Didn't have time to do the military museum, but will go back soon. Recommended to occupy you for a few hours. Kid friendly with interactive elements as you go around. Cafe, gift shop, outside seating when the weather is nice. Don't forget the Almshouse before you go in, it's easy to miss!
