It's great to see the Allerford has at last reopened! This used to be our 'go to' place for carvery and have struggled to find anywhere comparable around town in the meantime. It's looking great inside and out, it will be lovely in the warmer weather when people are able to sit outside too. There were 4 of us and we all chose the carvery which we were directed up to pretty much straightaway, no queue at the station which is always a bonus! There's a choice of 3 meats and a lots of vegetables too. It's nice to see they kept the serving area clean and tidy as well. We all enjoyed and finished what we had and then 2 of us had sticky toffee pudding which was delicious!
I will definitely be going back and I would without hesitation recommend to others!

We went to the allerford for my wife's 40th birthday lunch. About 30 of us in total. Including 8 kids ranging from 6 weeks to 9 years old. The communication from Elly was absolutely fantastic. They really couldn't have done enough for us to make sure everything was ready.
We got there and went straight to the function room, where the tables had been arranged and set for us to sit down and start chatting!!! No waiting, everything was organised without delay.
We had sent our menu choices 48 hours beforehand and as the brilliant staff gave us our choices, they had a fantastic system where instead of just saying what the food was, they called out the name of the person who's meal it was. What a great idea!! There was absolutely no confusion!!
I had the starter of baked brie in breadcrumbs and as soon as I cut into the parcel, the brie just oozed out! What was also great to see was that the white outside of the cheese was attached to the breadcrumbs, proving that it was properly homemade!! The carbonara tagliatelle was superb and the melting chocolate orange pudding was divine. Another indicator of the quality of the food was when Elly asked us how we would like our burgers cooked as they used steak mince and wanted to get it right for us!! I mean, you really can't ask for more can you!?!
The prices were really good value. There were a great selection of ales and ciders as well as the normal lagers. I would have expected to have paid a good 25% more for the quality of food alone.
I really can't rate this place highly enough. As a foodie who works in customer service, they tick all the boxes. And what I love, is the allerford has none of the pretentiousness that you sometimes get with some places that deliver less admirable food and service.
It is a little off the beaten track, but still only 15 mins drive from the centre of town.
In summary. Go to the allerford inn, not only will you not be dissapointed, you WILL be impressed!!!

Was able to book easily for a carvery lunch today. The Inn is delightfully refurbished and the choice of meats and veg was great. Raspberry roulade for deserts and in-all a great experience. Will return unless you all start booking this place ahead of me.

I always come her very nice atmosphere beautiful place. I had a Carvery tonight and spoke you he chef stating I was working Xmas day due to my job and he gave us 4. Free Christmas crackers .. Such a kind thing to do! Always coming back

We came as a group of 5 and were really well looked after. The refurb has be done really nicely, everything looks and feels good quality and there's plenty of space. Our Christmas lunch was great, would definitely go again!

Had a team lunch hear and got to enjoy the carvery. Great quality food and plenty of choice - was pleasantly surprised what great value it was.
