I logged on to comment on Tom's new summer menu and happened to see canton59's ridiculous review. I have no idea who they are but they are describing somewhere I don't recognise in any aspect of their review (apart from happy staff) and I have been going to this pub since it reopened and eating there at least once a week.
The food they serve is first class, fresh, prepared with a great deal of care and you are hosted by an incredibly warm and friendly team. True, the menu they offer is not vast but it gives a great range of options and is very balanced and, having eaten most of the dishes on it, I can honestly say I have never been disappointed. It is not the huge 100 dish menu you would get in a chain pub but neither is it reheated from frozen in microwaves! If that's what canton59 wants then I suggest they should avoid this place and leave it to the people who appreciate what Tom and his team are trying to do.

Came here early one Saturday evening and managed to bag a table in the beer garden. Lovely pub, staff and food and the location is peaceful in terms of being in the countryside but having said that it is next to the train line - not a negative though - the trains going by were lovely to watch!

We recently had our wedding reception at the Allerford after getting married abroad. From start to finish we really can't fault anything! We had a fantastic evening, everyone commented on what great food and what a lovely pub! The planning was also really well sorted, they arranged a full run through with us the week before so they could make sure everything ran smoothly on the night - a huge help and a great extra touch. We ordered part hog-roast and part buffet - the food was brilliant. We had so many great comments. Also happily catered for vegetarians and gluten free. I would recommend this pub to anyone, either for a lovely meal, or for a wedding/party. There's also a large outside area with seats and tables - a bonus for the kids to run around and play safely!

Although quiet which was to be expected for very late on a Thursday lunch the food was very good with good flavours.
Staff were friendly and helpful and pricing was decent.
Need to visit at a busier time to comment on atmosphere but it has all the right ingredients to be a very nice place to eat.

We had our wedding reception here after getting married abroad in Santorini . Tom and his team gave us a perfect night . The food was perfect and all our courses were brought out with no problems at all .
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were very helpful and attentive . I would highly recommend the Allerford and will definitely be returning .

Lovely service, lovely food, lovely place and with us being a group of 12 they were brilliant at catering to all our needs. Also lots of space for the children to run around whilst the adults caught up. Will definitely be going again when next in Taunton. Very reasonably priced as well. Thank you

A big thank you to you all for making our wedding perfect. The food was excellent as usual, which all our guests praised you for. Thank you to your team for helping with the setting up the day before and having everything immaculate. Everyone said how lovely and happy the staff were, they were even smiling the next day when they had to clean up :-). We all had a fantastic time, perfect venue for us. See you soon Jane & Bill
