Visited the allerford on many occasions. We have been as a couple and in large groups. The main menu food is absolutely beautiful but their carvery is out of this world!!
The best carvery we have ever had by far.
Its an absolute must if in the area however booking is essential as they are super super busy which explains in itself just how good it is

We came in recently for Sunday lunch and were absolutely blown away.
First of all, the place is gorgeous and very well kept and gets very busy so booking for Sunday is a must.
The carvery was incredible, easily the best I’ve had at a pub in years (possibly ever!)
A choice of pork, beef or turkey all of which were cooked to perfection.
All the accompaniments were homemade including the Yorkshire puddings and stuffing. There was a massive choice of vegetables, roast potatoes, dauphinois, parsnips, creamed cabbage that was so good even my toddler ate it!
The value was incredible, £10 for adults, £5 for children, I really couldn’t believe the price for the quality, I would have happily paid double.
It’s a bit of a trek from home but we will definitely be making the trip much more now we know what a gem it is.

Superb, when you fail to get a table in 1 of Taunton's top 3 then this is the place. Yes its a pub in tbe middle of nowhere but the food is worth the effort of going there.
Excellent.

First visit to Sunday Carvery after eating midweek. Booking online very simple and good confirmations sent. Staff welcoming and very efficient. Superb carvery, generous meat portions and good range of vegetables. Lots of competition on Sundays but this is definitely one to go for

Just visited the Allerford Inn for their Sunday Carvery and I can only state I have no plans to eat for a week now. The food was excellent and the Chocolate Sundae was 1 million calories in a glass. I suspect I am going to be hyper for weeks now, LOL. My only criticism was that even with the plates put on a tray they were cold and therefore the Carvery went cold by the end.

Had a birthday lunch today with my wife, son, daughter in law, and 5 year old granddaughter and have to say the whole experience was an absolute delight, The staff were very pleasant and obligating The choice of food was great plus the taste and quantity was amazing we all somehow even managed to save a little space for a sweet and my god we were so glad we did they were fantastic i don't think i will eat anything for next 24 hours as i am so full. The Alleford really is a gem in the Taunton Deane area and i have no hesitation in recommending the eating experience here to everybody

Would definitely recommend the carvery. Really good selection of meats and veg. My only negative was that service was slow taking our plates after the meal and bringing the puddings. But the pudding was also lovely

My family and I were staying nearby for my birthday but did not want to cook Sunday lunch we looked on trip advisor for suggestions and found the Allerford Inn. We pulled into the large car park and saw there were a lot of cars already there - which would usually mean a good place.Due to having both a vegetarian and a gluten free/nut free member of the group I had contacted the Inn to enquire if these could all be catered for. Vegetarian option of nut roast caused some concern due to our nut free requirement but a quick response from Hazel reassured me that anything with nuts is kept away from other items meant that all of us would be able to eat there. On arrival once seated, we went up to the carvery where we could choose two out of the three meats on offer. All the cuts were lean and beautifully tender. The selection of vegetables was vast and the Yorkshire puddings delicious. My gluten free friend identified herself and was handed a jug with gluten free gravy. She felt the service received was excellent. Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would certainly go back. We did have to wait a short while but well worth the wait. My only negative would be that the accompaniments be labelled. My daughter mistook the horseradish for bread sauce. But the staff quickly offered her the choice of another meal which was appreciated.
