First time we have been to the Allerford Inn and hopefully it won't be the last! Excellent food, the children absolutely loved the Yorkshire puddings and the adults enthused about the roast dinner and also the desserts. We did feel however, that the desserts would be better presented in nice glasses rather than the jam jars with handles!!! The restaurant was packed for Sunday Lunch but you would have to get things right as this place is in the "sticks".

We were a party of 20 celebrating a family birthday. The carvery was fantastic! Great choice of meat and veg and better still, there wasn’t a ridiculous queue. Lots of dessert options, followed by teas and coffees.
It was a beautiful day so we were then able to sit out in the large garden space, enjoy an extra glass of something cold, watch all the children play football, with the odd train rumbling by. It was absolutely perfect. We will return!

I love this restaurant. Where it is and the atmosphere! It has friendly bar staff and most welcoming.
My complaint is the food .. it honestly felt like it was out of a packet and Small portions. Sorry!!The chicken was a little rubbery!
The curry was a small portion so I supplemented my chips to my partner. It needed more curry and less rice. It wasn't very tasty quite bland actually. The same for hunters chicken. The cheese and biscuits were lovely and plenty!! But it needed something with it?? Grapes or apple/fruit? It's the extra thoughts that count.
I had lunch here the other week with a bestie. it was a lovely lunch. An expensive baguette but tasty.
Previous meal was also hit and miss that I reported on some months ago!
You could so have the X factor!!

We have taken our time to write this review as we wanted to check-in with our guests about how they thought our big day went. After talking to most of them we feel we can now write this review.
From the start when we had a look at the venue, we felt it was the right place for us to use. We arranged a meeting with Tom who made us both feel comfortable and gave us very good advice, with things that maybe we had’nt thought about. He gave us a rough estimate of the cost which by the way was very close to the final total price.
On the day the Allerford delivered everything that they said they would do and more.
We had the tapas to start which was totally outstanding and everyone of our guests said that they were amazed at the high quality of food that was on the tapas board.
Next came the carvery and again all our guests were more than pleased with its quality.
But it was not only the food that made our day so very special, it was the help from the all the crew at the Allerford that meant the day went so smoothly. From letting us drop of all the decorations to dress the room two days before the big day and then letting us decorate it the day before with no problems.
And at the end of the night they kindly took all the dec’s down and packed them up for us to pick up the next day. So all that is left is for both me and my lovely new wife to say is a HUGE thank you to all of you that the Allerford for making our day sooooooo fantastic and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Allerford as a wedding venue.

Just had the most amazing home cooked meal at the Allerford Inn, I would thoroughly recommend this place to everyone. It’s very unusual these days to get home cooked food, and not something that has come out of the microwave, so 100% recommended. Give it a try, you don’t know what you are missing by not giving the Allerford Inn a try.
Great friendly staff, couldn’t do enough for us. Well done all round.

Lovely place to eat. Carvery was fantastic with great choice! Would recommend this place highly. Only thing missing is a play area for the kids, although the outside space is great for them to run around, could do with some apparatus for them to climb on!

We wanted to celebrate my Mums 80th birthday with all the family and all the staff were very accommodating and let us have a private room to use and we enjoyed the most amazing carvery with a huge choice of veg and beautiful meats and the puddings were generous and delicious! Would recommend highly and the service and friendliness of all the staff was outstanding. Mum had a wonderful time thankyou!

We had a lovely "date night" at The Allerford Inn last night - a quiet atmosphere, but made warmer by the hum of music and the friendly characters behind the bar. We had a couple of starters to share (halloumi and the mushrooms) - both very yummy and set us up ready for the mains!
My partner had the Pork belly and I had the hunters chicken. Both were very generous portions - the pork belly was huge! Thankfully my boyfriend has a great appetite.. :)
Both meals were delicious and cooked beautifully - the chips were lovely and crispy/fluffy - great country pub grub. We'll be back for the pina colada slushie when it's available!

Very quick & easy to book a table online. The food was lovely but we were slightly disappointed to be told upon our arrival that there was no Rump Steak,Slow Braised Lamb or Fish Pie (all offered on their main menu & they only offer one type of steak,)
We thought that this was a lack of organisation as it was @ 7.30 on a Friday night, what we thought was the start of a weekend not a Sunday night after a busy weekend.Shame. May try the carvery next time :-(
