You have to remember that you can visit this place for FREE! And for a couple of hours you can find the most wonderful exhibitions which will suit the appetites of the youngest to oldest. We were lucky enough to visit in the last week of the Pompeii exhibit on loan from the tate. What a treat. Such experienced and welcoming guides are dotted around the building. The multi media exhibit about the Romans were captivating. I didn't take many photos - too busy taking it all in. I will come back for sure. Thank you so much to the dedicated team who made our visit so enjoyable.

An unexpected gem. We popped in with our three children because it was raining and we spent a wonderful couple of hours here. It's well curated with lots of finds. A couple of sizable hoards, some Roman mosaics and the South Cadbury Shield were our favourites. Staff were very friendly and helpful too.

By far the best exhibit at the moment is the John Martin room, especially the painting 'The Destruction of Pompeii and Herculaneum'<br>Loved the atmosphere created with the sounds of volcanic eruptions whilst looking at the apocalyptic pictures.<br>Very knowledgeable guide who recanted the story of John Martin's rise as an artist.<br>Free to enter.<br>The military exhibition is also an excellent collection of artefacts especially the old photographs.
