Mid week lunch with friends today has been all the more enjoyable because the meal and the service were faultless. There's a wide choice, a generous amount, and it's all at pub/restaurant prices.. It looks smart as it's been recently refurbished, and it's spacious with lots of parking. Why wasn't it packed out? Perhaps people are too lazy to drive a little way out from Taunton or Wellington. It's worth the drive.

Had a really lovely evening here with friends and family. Great food and even better service. Will definitely be making a trip back here soon - and if anyone's coming from Norton Fitzwarren, there's a nice walk across the fields, perfect for a sunday walk and roast.

Having been to the Allerford several times since it's lovely renovation, I've always had a fantastic time. The food is great, especially the Sunday carvery. The staff are always lovely, and the events I have been to have always been incredibly well organised and great fun! The new owners have clearly put their heart and soul into making it work. I would highly recommend a visit!

Used to known as the Victory several years ago, but had been closed for some time. Now open again and renovated to provide Various options from small groups to large functions. Quite quiet when we visited, friendly greeting after which one had to make an effort to attract attention to order. No real problem and again service friendly. Food was good and competitively priced (?) although did seem to take a long time, considering there were not many folk to serve. Should you contemplate having some cheese after your meal, be prepared for a plough mans lunch enough for two !!! Others found the puds to their liking :-)
No doubt on a busier day there would be more "atmosphere" .
Worth a try.

I chose a Breaded Brie starter and can honestly say it is the best starter I have ever had.The carvery was excellent and such good value for money. The service from all staff was excellent. Will certainly be going again.

I have to say that the entire team is by far the friendliest I have met in many a Sunday lunch. No mention for one member of staff, they were all very pleasant & polite at all times. The carvery is superb & the food is of the highest quality. What a friendly place to visit. Disabled friendly too.

Have been here for an evening meal before. Thought we would try the carvery was not disappointed. It was hot and fresh, 3 selections of meat turkey, beef and pork with home made yorkies. My favourite dauphinoise potatoes and cauliflower cheese which makes for an extra special carvery. Staff are lovely and friendly a must place to visit. My partner had toblerone cheesecake homemade yum yum.

Been here a few fimes since it reopened, once for a carvery, which was good enough but not the best in the area, for example the roast potatoes were mushy, far too soft and I thought the meat was a bit on the stingy side.

Had a couple of evening meals too - I thought the food was average - they advertise an award winning chef, so I was expecting a bit of flair, but It was like basic home cooking if I'm honest.

For example my pie was laden with mixed herbs, from a jar (just buy some fresh ones and chop them in, people will taste the difference!) and was served an oval bowl, with a puff pastry lid - anyone that knows anything about cooking would know that this is lazy cooking.

My mother had the fish and chips and the fish was a brought in, supermarket looking piece of fish, rather than a freshly battered fish - now this is really lazy! Make a batter, fillet a fish and do it properly - especially if you are advertising award winning food!?

There was nothing wrong however with the general standard of the cooking - it was all hot, cooked through etc and we didn't have to wait for long, it just all felt a bit lazy.

Just OK. Tribute was a decent pint.
