Free to get in, donation welcome. Spent 2 hours here and that was looking around at average speed. More for adults and older kids but some stuff will interest little ones such as dress up etc..

What a great day for children. Their exhibition of Axel Scheffler and his illustrations is great. We had 4 children with us. The Bingo around the Museum was so much fun. Making sticks and flags etc and the exhibition itself was fantastic. The only thing you may struggle with it is being busy but I expect if you go earlier or later in the day this wouldnt be an issue. The staff were very helpful. The cafe was busy but well organised. Great experience considering how cheap it was. Very much advised over the summer hols.

An amazing place to explore. We went when they had an Alex Scheffler event (grufflo illustrations etc). A fun day with a craft for the children at a nominal price. The cafe was great and reasonably priced too! A great day out!

A wonderful and carefully-planned museum! Makes excellent use of the space available and has some fascinating artefacts, especially the most perfectly preserved Roman Mosaic I've ever seen!

A fantastic, if fittingly depressing exhibition on the destruction of church artwork during the reformation was very moving indeed.

In addition to this, the museum gives justly thorough attention to the history of local people; something that is shortly sorely lacking in many museums in the South West!

A surprising little gem of a museum - kids loved it and I dressed up as a soldier - what could be better ?

Great granddaughters first visit, she loved it but she wasn't sure with the darker rooms. She sort of did the Gruffalo trail (she is only three and a half).

This museum is a hidden gem in Taunton. It may be small compared to other museums, but it is multi faceted. It is definitely like a tardis with so much to explore and find inside. Staff were super helpful and best of all it's free - but donations are definitely welcome

Very eclectic collection of things related to Somerset and something for everyone. Well worth a visit. There are some child activities but you'll have to queue at reception because it was very popular with all the families visiting on a wet Wednesday morning.

Wow...this was amazing beautifully laid out and very easy to follow the historical timelines of Somerset's history. There was no charge to enter. but we did not hesitate in making a donation.

We visited with our 2 year old toddler expecting there to be more for her to interact with, but there wasn’t really. There are a handful of mildly interactive bits for older kids in the main exhibition (like a fossil puzzle and some pull-out facts), but it’s not aimed at children. Thankfully it’s free and there are cafes nearby which is what we ended up doing with our morning instead!
