A fantastic find. We stopped on our return from holidaying in Devon and was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a place. Great cafe too with vegan options.Visited on

Really good museum. Lots very interesting artifacts , outlining life in Somerset from millions of years ago to a few hundred years ago. The alms house at the beginning was particularly great. Really well worth a visit .Visited on

Lovely little museum, clear varied exhibits with a local flavour. There is a fantastic roman mosaic to rival Verulamium too.

Took our 6 year old to have a look at the museum. He was fascinated with the exhibits and particularly liked the main hall ones. There is a great range of things to see and you learn a great deal about the history of Somerset and Taunton. Definitely worth a visit if you've not been before. Plus you can stop at the cafe for refreshments and some hot or cold food or the second hand book store whilst there too.

Very good museum and a jewel in Somerset (which makes me think .. it should be the permanent home for the Alfred Jewel. Time for restitution!)

Wonderful to see the magnificent Low Ham mosaic perfectly laid out and not behind glass, plus the moving material about its discovery (think 'The Dig'). Military aficionados (and probably small boys) will also love the Light Infantry exhibition, including to my amazement actual material from the Zulu Wars (yes, including an assegai or two). No sign of Michael Caine, but still. Dragged away to the really nice and friendly courtyard cafe, but desperate to get back and see everything else.
