The museum buildings and surrounding a are just as much part of the exhibits as the contents Fascinating presenttations of history, legend and total myth.
Often Special Subject presentations are a great attraction, as well as really good things for youngsters.
I wish they could light up the text cards better though , difficult for some (me) to read.

A small, local museum that holds surprises like a full fossil and an impressive mosaic floor. Much of the focus was understandably on the Monmouth rebellion but had nice bits of local histories too like drinking games for cider! Good for little ones and adults and very empty on a weekday.

Great place to visit with children, very interesting, the monster trail was great to do in the summer holidays. Very well laid out and easy to find your way around, inside of a beautiful building, staff friendly and helpful. The cafe was lovely, great food at a good price.

Took children there during the summer holidays. We participated in a monster trail which only cost £1 per child. The children loved looking for the stickers and filling in the trail booklet. The children also enjoyed looking at the museum artifacts and the Myths and monster exhibition.

Great museum, well laid out chronologically from prehistoric fossils through the ages. Easy to view and informative displays, interactive trail for kids. Small but perfectly formed. Café and shop and gallery too.
If there were more women in the final gallery that would be wonderful, but of course their stories are harder to find. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Taunton. And free! (Suggested donation £3) Staff friendly and helpful.
