Very beautiful gardens. Lots of colour and well laid out. Wonderful views across the countryside too. Delicious breakfast seated in a covered, outside area, with a lovely fountain in the centre ⛲ Well worth a visit.

Looks a lovely place to spend a day although we didn't go in as would have been £30 for 2 adults but was wrongly advised that was national trust but it is not.... Enen though advertised on national trust website.....

House a bit disappointing only 2 rooms to look in, and 2 gift shop rooms. Cafe was good for coffee and grounds & gardens good for a walk.

A really grand day out - interesting location with fantastic formal gardens and wider grounds that provide opportunities for x decent walk. The cafe was good value. Even better if - i think more could have been made of the great contribution made by the Fire Brigade made in the development of the gardens - the house gave opportunity for that - maybe a future venue for a fire brigade museum in the future. Oh and the plant centre was really well priced with great stock. We certainly will return.

If you love visiting gardens then this is well worth a trip. Beautifully designed with lovely trails to follow (Good map provided). The main gardens are just amazing too with a great variety of plants.
The house has a shop and also a second hand book shop.
By the entrance is a nice cafe, which serves the usual teas, coffees, cakes & snacks. Overall a great day out and definitely will be visiting again.

A good garden it was designed by lutyens and gerkyll in 1909 after a full restoration in the 90s . It's once again back to its former glory

Beautiful gardens and planting. Food and drinks are very expensive. Signage to find it could be better.

Beautiful walled gardens of roses and various flowers. The aroma of roses is delicious as you go through each garden area. Well cared for by the staff.
The cafe has a variety of cakes to have with tea/coffee sit in or outside. Relax on a deckchair and enjoy the sunshine.

Welcoming & helpful staff.
Lovely area to walk around, dogs welcome.
However we did find it easy to lose our way somewhat. Some wooden markers matching the map would be handy.
Lots of extensive historical data to read going back to medieval times.
Cafe and restaurant on site.

Lovely restaurant/tea room. The formal gardens are pretty and the large grounds are good for walkers. Paths are not all well maintained yet and I would not be attempt without sturdy footwear. Lovely to see this house and gardens being restored.

Normally I would rate this place as at least a 4...been before and gardens are beautiful. This time we turned off the M5 which was backed up with queues... looking for a lunch..which Hestercombe offers. Signage to get there not good... a bit of a weave through a housing estate cos we took a wrong turning I think.. avoided the houses on the way back and re joined M5 with no trouble.
Restaurant is indoor or outdoors under a canopy by a pretty fountain. We spoke to the waitress who found us a table and then we waited. And waited. An elderly disabled couple who came in after us got served first. When someone then came to take our order we mentioned that we were travelling and asked what was quickest ( soup and a cheese and pickle sandwich). We ordered and then waited over 20 minutes for food to arrive. Soup was good..homemade.. toast a bit meagre. Sandwich was made with white supermarket bread. Rather disappointing.
A bit pricey too..though ambience was nice..and maybe we wouldn't have minded so much if we hadn't needed to get food and go.

Went to Hestercombe with our local Horticultural society yesterday. The gardens were beautiful with a wide range of styles from woodland areas to more traditional border planting. Hestercombe is set in the most glorious countryside so getting up to the high points is well worth it. The meadow field was stunning. We stopped at the Stables cafe for refreshments where I had the best Mocha I had had in a very long time and the cakes were delicious. The owners and staff had clearly spent time and effort was visible, even the napkins were decent!
