The staff have done an excellent job in restoring the over grown gardens to their original state with follys and view points rebuilt.

Only visited here to have lunch and wow what a lovely place. The outdoor seating for the cafe was beautiful and the food was great too. Will definitely be back to explore the gardens another day.

A little bit pricey and no OAP reduction. Very friendly welcome at the entrance. There was a wedding at the orangery in the afternoon, but we were told how to get to see it while it was accessible to the public.
It was very hot and the two Information Shelters showing videos of the gardens restoration and also of the family who created the gardens, was a very cool relief from the heat.
The formal gardens were beautiful. What a stunning location for that wedding!
To cut costs we had brought our own picnic. There was a designated area with wide views over the countryside. Nearby was a children's play area. These tables had parasols , so we were able to enjoy the shade. Very friendly lady informed us that we could go in and out of the garden with no problem to fetch sunhats from the car.
Next we wandered all the way up the woodland gardens to see the various items shown on the map with which we had been provided. It was well laid out and jolly interesting, although some of the area may have been a bit hazardous had the ground suffered with wet weather. We spent most of the day there.
The house was disappointing as the volunteer seemed a bit flummoxed in her role. Not much to see in the only open room, but hey ho, we were there for the garden! We missed the art gallery, as it closed to change exhibits. The restaurant looked lovely and there was a good menu, but we were on a budget, so gave it a miss.
This garden is work in progress, but gosh, they have done jolly well so far! Left with a cheery "goodbye and do come again" from staff at the main entrance. Thank you! We probably will!

We were visiting locally and decided to try it out. If you like gardens, this is very much worth a visit. There's a remarkable story of how they're restoring what were effectively lost gardens, and the gardens themselves are fabulous: there's the Lutyens/Jekyll formal bit which is very impressive indeed, complemented by an entirely different 'lost valley' of cascading lakes, temples, vistas and so on which bore a striking resemblance to the design concept of Stourhead. This latter part is all being restored which is clearly costing a lot; the missing star in the review is really because of the somewhat crass approach to scratching money off us punters. That said, it is definitely worth a visit and we'll go back!

This place is really nice to look around with the wooded walks,waterfall and lakes it’s formal gardens are a delight to walk around at every turn there is somewhere different to explore.The magnificent gardens are full of amazing colourful flowers and some of the views are a treat for sore eyes,it is such a tranquil place with several water features to relax the mind.There is also the Stables.cafe which serves up some delicious food and a lovely little on site shop with great gifts for everyone.If in the area and like looking around places like this it’s a must do to put on your list as it is a great day out.👍

We were too early for lunch and no breakfast food available, just cake and sweet treats. It was a pretty little cafe and dog friendly but very limited on food choices if you want to or have to eat healthily

Well worth a visit, the gardens are stunning and beautiful walks around the grounds with seasonal activities for kids. Lovely cafe serving great cakes and snacks but if you want a real treat book in for afternoon tea, the best I’ve had in Somerset in a stunning room overlooking the formal gardens.

Spent a few hours here exploring the beautiful gardens. Had lunch in the cafe, food was very nice, and there were jugs of water for your table if you wanted one. There is a second hand book shop within the house that is crammed full of all kinds of books. The art exhibition upstairs was interesting.

Recently attended a wedding at Hestercombe, totally amazing venue and the staff were just wonderful.

Gardens were looking splendid for a convivial evening. Bampfylde hall was perfect for a lovely buffet dinner. Discreet staff were attentive at refilling glasses and clearing dishes. Room transformed in a short time for dancing to a live band.
