Beautiful gardens with lots of history, the gardens are well kept, lots of lovely flowers to see.
Historical buildings and Beautiful ceilings to view where rooms are historically kept, very interesting, there is an art gallery there. Also a cafe where you can buy a variety of gorgeous cakes as well as gluten free cakes, drinks are also available. There is a very wide range of healthy plants to purchase. Hestercombe is a great dog friendly place with the exception of the main house well worth a visit and reasonably priced

Enjoyed the marvellous vistas. Quite a climb on a warm, humid day, though. I might have preferred late springtime.

Lovely place. Several walks available depending on ability. Woodland walk was good on a very hot day as plenty of shade. Cafe nice if little slow service.

Enjoyed a delicious and substantial croque madame in the courtyard today. Good service. Pleasant staff. Well organized. Ice cream for 'afters' was great.

Fantastic place for a day out. Restaurant and cafe are brilliant, plenty of vegan options! Photo is from the restaurant, we had the mushrooms on toast and vegan mezze, both were delicious. Also we had the tiramisu cupcake which was so good it did not stick around long enough to be photographed 😂😅 Stunning gardens you can follow in any way you like, some paths are harder than others (steeper) but you can choose easier paths. Also the second hand bookshop is great! Highly recommended if you want to spend a day enjoying the outdoors 🙂

Lovely place to visit, & the weather was perfect!
Beautiful Gardens & House. Great Cafe & Restaurant. Very interesting, with it's history of uses over the years, & its one remaining 'Barack Block' from WW2!

To be fair, we only visited the cafe so I can't comment on the gardens themselves. It was nice enough, but a bit small and they needed another person to help the one guy serving. In the sunshine, the lawn is nice to sit out on, but in bad weather you'd be limited.

There was also only a very limited selection of plants I saw available to buy.

Great formal gardens and nice walk in the grounds with ponds, stream, waterfall and follys. Big enough not to feel crowded. Good restrooms, and nice cafe with scrummy cupcakes. Small selection of reasonably priced plants. Gardens a little scruffy in places and not as well tended as you would expect from a NT property. But a good day out

Absolutely magical gardens, with so much to explore. Friendly and helpful staff. And the pan fried hake in the restaurant was excellent. This was our first visit and I will plan another visit very soon

A place we visit often. The food in the stable restaurant is excellent.

You've got to really really love gardens to justify the entry fee . Only the cafe and garden centre don't require an admission fee

Hestercombe includes a variety of venues. While you are at your wedding reception other people will be wandering the lawns or gardens as guests of the National Trust or English Heritage, whichever it is. Each individual aspect of the venue seems excellent but maybe the overall business of the location may not be what you individually want.
