We are headed for a severe winter! Have you got your free grit from Sutton Council yet?

With very severe weather being forecast as early as November, it is gratifying to know that Sutton Council has arranged for each household and business to have 10kgs of grit free of charge, to use around their property for those icy times.

The Council will,of course, still ensure that the main roads and other key areas within the Borough are properly gritted. However, it is impossible to do absolutely everywhere and so by making it available to businesses and householders, a lot more places can be made safer during icy weather.

Please, where you can, give help to the elderly and those less able to ensure that they also have safer access around their homes during this time.

The bags of grit are available each weekend in October and may be obtained from:

  • B&Q – Carshalton Road, Sutton (underground car park) –
    7am – 5pm Saturday, 10am – 4pm Sunday
  • Woodcote Green Garden Centre & Nurseries – Woodmansterne Lane –
    8.30am – 5pm Saturday, 10am – 4.30pm Sunday
  • Clockhouse – The Green at the Mount – 9am – 3pm Saturday & Sunday
  • Kimpton Park Way Reuse and Recycle Centre –
    9am – 5pm Saturday, 9am – 2pm Sunday. (Check the webcam to avoid busy
    times – www.sutton.gov.uk/kimptonwebcam).

Please take a suitable bag or container to collect the grit at Kimpton Park Way.
Grit at Woodcote Green Garden Centre, Clockhouse and B&Q will be ready bagged.
