Cllr Jane Mosson has been elected as the new mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield.

Town councillors and members of the public witness her appointment during a virtual meeting of the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council.

Cllr Mosson (pictured) has represented Roughley Ward on the Town Council since the boundary changes and election of 2018.

From the inception of the council in 2016 under the old ward boundaries, she represented Four Oaks.

She will also nominate a Youth Consort - her grandson Louis Williams.

Louis attends a local Sutton Coldfield school and outside of school he enjoys playing golf, football, going to the gym and gaming.

When coronavirus restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so, Louis will accompany Cllr Mosson at local events, performances and exhibitions when applicable.

Cllr Mosson, a Sutton Coldfield resident for 41 years, said: “I am extremely proud and honoured to become Mayor of this wonderful town of ours. In normal times I would now be looking forward to attending a variety of events across the town and spending as much time as possible meeting local people.

“Sadly, many of these events have had to be cancelled however I hope to see innovative and creative ways which will unite the whole town and make us proud to live and work in Sutton Coldfield. In the meantime I hope you are remain safe and well.”

Due to restrictions around the coronavirus pandemic, the mayor’s diary remains closed.

Please contact the mayor’s diary officer on 0121 663 1765 if you would like the mayor to attend your event virtually.
