Harley Reading has joined Millennium Cargo, stepping into a freight forwarding business that was itself built from an apprenticeship.
The company’s CEO Chadd Blunt entered the industry 38 years ago and learned the trade from the ground up before going on to found Millennium Cargo in 1996.
The family business also includes Chadd’s daughter, Keeley Blunt, as finance director, and his son Connor Blunt, who joined as an apprentice a decade ago, is now commercial director.
Sales and operations manager Ali Askar, who has been with the firm for 25 years, also initially joined as an apprentice.
Now Harley is the latest apprentice to join the firm.
Chadd said: “Someone gave me a chance when I left school and it changed my life. I've never forgotten that.
“Young people may not have experience yet, but they bring energy, ambition and a willingness to learn. Given the right opportunity, they can achieve remarkable things.”
Harley said: “I’m excited to be joining a business with this kind of track record. You can see from the people around you what’s possible when you put the work in. I’m here to learn and to contribute, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
