Passed this lovely pub whilst holidaying in the area and after reading the reviews decided to give it a try. Lovely reception that made us feel very welcome. After deciding to go with the steak option which seemed to be the popular choice we had a light drink with the bread starter to avoid spoiling our appetites.
When the food arrived we were presented with frozen chips as part of our meal. The steak and the other items were cooked to perfection and very tasty but why ruin it with a pile of frozen chips which were pale and totally tasteless.
No explanation or apology, surely a chef would not serve rubbish to accompany a well prepared meal?

Had dinner on Friday night. The ribeye steak was delicious and the brewshed beer was lovely. Will come back again.

We had a wonderful experience on our recent visit. The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But just as importantly, the service truly stood out. Our waitress, Fern, was incredibly attentive and warm throughout the evening. She anticipated our needs without ever being intrusive and made us feel genuinely cared for. Her thoughtful service elevated the whole experience and made our visit even more enjoyable.

Went to The Fox on 3 occasions while holidaying in the area. Lovely place to eat, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious, we had Sunday Roast with all the trimmings and even though the restaurant was busy we were served promptly. Would recommend the mackeral pate as a starter, the pickled veg with it was so tasty, the only hiccup was the mussell's they were quite gritty. All our other meals were delicious and there was a good choice on the menu, not just the usual pub food. If your in the area give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Wonderful evening. My husband and I went on impulse. Atmosphere very calm but organised. Food excellent. Had steak perfectly cooked melted in your mouth. Give it a try you won’t regret it , promise

Mid week Dinner with friends.
Lovely evening and the food was amazing. We all went for steak off the menu and it we all agreed it was cooked perfectly, good quality & very tasty.

Had a wonderful evening with my friend. Fiona was amazing and gave very enthusiastic and considerate service. Myself and my friend both at the same time said ‘her service is amazing’ which is why I’m writing my first ever review. Thank you Fiona for making our night. Burger and Pint for £16 is a bargain!!

The best Sunday lunch by far in the local area and very friendly and hard-working staff. Food is always delicious and complimented with plenty of vegetables and extra gravy. If you have room for a dessert they are very good too- the half and half dessert and a drink is good value.

We were recommended The Fox because of the local beers that my partner could try. We all really enjoyed the food and he definitely enjoyed the beer. He came away with a selection to try at home. He had a really good steak too. Just the way he likes them. One of the party had a risotto that she enjoyed

Just had another fantastic roast, everything was dekious. Great selection of veg and a large portion. Fresh and gone cooked. I've finally found somewhere that does an amazing home cooked roast, I'm fussy as I do a good roast, and am usually disappointed when I go out. But I certainly can't fault anything. Delicious ❤️Thankyou

Had a lovely meal here today. They managed to accommodate 7 of us last minute. Great choice of starters and mains. The sweet chilli beef was very nice, not too hot but still great flavour. The flat iron steak was very nice and for £18 was great value. The chicken burger looked very tasty as well as the haddock. Everyone throughly enjoyed their meal. Generous portions without being overwhelming and unachievable. Excellent choice of drinks and wine list. The service was very efficient and the waitresses were polite and friendly. My only criticism is the dessert menu. Although had some nice choices, was not to my palette. Some basics such as a brownie, chocolate fondant and cheesecake would have definitely secured us all another course. The pub also has air conditioning which was very well received in the current heatwave. Will be returning soon! Thank you for a wonderful meal.
