I have visited recently on a Friday evening with good friends and found it to be a very intimate and friendly wine bar with extraordinary hosts.

I then visited on Friday morning for brunch to be greeted by a small but individual menu, and a chef (David the owner) who adapted the menu to our taste.

This is a unique venue, run by a fun loving and welcoming family.

Having had a wobbly first visit last summer, I eat my words and am delighted I was given the chance to be welcomed back.

Pleasant, reasonably priced cafe just down the road from Gainsborough's House. You will always receive a warm welcome, but service is none too swift-- so probably not the best place to choose if you are on a tight timetable. But otherwise a relaxing and friendly place.

having eaten in Davids today I was not disappointed.. the beef was so tender you really don;t have to chew it and it really was delicious. The coffee was the best I have tasted in a long while....well done David and your staff and the interior is superb and having a no children policy is excellent so you can eat and talk in peace and comfort

A relaxing cafe on the high street, we stopped for mid-morning coffee and toasted teacakes. The owner was ill and we received apologies from the friendly staff that the menu was limited. Teacakes were possible but they only had one left so I settled for a cheese scone, and was well pleased that I did. Possibly the best cheese scone I’ve ever had. The coffee was excellent, too.
Friendly service, a great experience.

Wanted a nice, quiet cafe for a light lunch - and was delighted to stumble across David's Cafe. The food was personally cooked by the proprietor, David, and served by a lovely lady, Anne - one of the family team that run the Cafe. Homemade Smoked Haddock fish cakes, french fries and petite pois were perfect - and under £6. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated - and with a 'no children' policy, would suit those wanting a leisurely lunch with some peace and quiet. Hope this will be the first of many visits.

We had lunch here yesterday in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Tea and fruit juices to start followed by the most amazing Medallions of fillet steak with mushrooms & tomatoes on ciabatta bread. My partner had the Escalope of chicken fillet with a salad and fries (both dishes were cooked to perfection).
The best lunch time experience we have had in the Sudbury area.
Amazing value for good quality food, friendly staff and a great chef.
Thank you David, we'll definitely be back 😀

Had lunch here today after hearing from my sister what wonderful food David serves. We ordered coffee (which was best I've tasted!!) - and the sliced fillet steak on ciabatta with cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. I can honestly say it was the most amazing meal! Extremely reasonably priced at just over £8. It was soooo nice....we ordered it again rather than a dessert LOL....and it was just as good second time around! I can't emphasis enough what a lovely place this is....I will certainly be recommending David's to all my friends. I'm not 'anti-children' at all BUT it was so relaxing to eat and chat in an adult only environment! Afraid your star system only goes to 5....I would give it 10!

I use David's coffee shop regularly and I can only say try it for yourself. If you are a good coffee lover you will not be disappointed by the product, the atmosphere and the wonderful staff. On Saturday eight of us booked a table for dinner and entertainment. The food was superb; try the fillet steak but go back again and have a home made burger. The entertainment that night was a singer I know as Linda assisted by husband Dave. Again, it was tops and every customer was up dancing. People do not know this is happening in Sudbury; it is and is highly recommended.

David's has a no-children policy which makes it a very pleasant bolt hole especially during half term and other school holidays. Just off the market place in Sudbury so well located and popular for friends meeting up.
Good range of food on offer and first class coffee.

Wish there were more places that adopted David's "No Children" policy; they would make a fortune. Now, please don't think I dislike children, I don't. It is just that these days so many parents seem prepared to tolerate bad behaviour and disobedience without the smallest admonishment of their little cherubs, and it always amazes that so many eating places in the UK refuse dogs, which are often healthier, cleaner and better behaved than most of the children who are either gurgling in a buggy, sitting with their feet on the chair or crawling across the floor. And we seem always to attract them: buses, trains, restaurants, coffee bars, hotels, pubs; we cannot avoid them. Crying, arguing, screaming; utterly out of control. Thankfully, David's is one place where one can eat, drink and relax in comfort. The menu is not big, but everything is cooked to perfection, so, if the place is busy, you might have to wait a while. There are daily specials, the coffee is superb, as is David's Italian salad. And all this without the interruption of unruly children, a restaurant that, even when full of people, is a rare haven where one can actually hear oneself think clearly. A real gem.
