Relaxed atmosphere; all the Daily papers; comfortable seating; marvellous coffee, tea, sandwiches of wonderful bread with generous fillings; Danish pastries & cakes are positively scrumptious! Sudbury is one lucky town having David's Continental Cafe within its environs. ..! Oh, and a terrific staff who go beyond the call of duty!!

Stopped for a coffee & bite to eat with my husband, and really pleased we did! Lovely service, and great food! I thought the 'child free' policy was a great idea as Sudbury has numerous coffee shops where children can go!!! I'm not 'anti children', but it was a lovely, relaxing atmosphere 😃

Davids is a beautiful cafe aimed at adults, for adults to enjoy a quiet atmosphere without interruptions from little ones- they are not anti children, they just believe that some people enjoy a quiet coffee without interruptions.
Previous bad reviews are from people who don't seem to see that every town needs an oasis for people who don't want to be interrupted by small children's noises. Not everyone enjoys the hubbub that accompanies the little ones in our community,
As a mother & grandmother I love my little ones but I still enjoy a little peace & quiet at times - Davids is that place for me

After a trip to re visit Thomas Gainsboroughs art museum and gallery in Sudbury went for a late breakfast at David's only 5minutes from the gallery. It was buzzing friendly and had a coffee and late breakfast, before heading to John Constables Flatford Mill. It's a very nice place for a late breakfast or lunch...and David is friendly and relaxed with a new cartoon on the wall of himself done by a friend whom now resides in Malta...David himself served us with a smile. Great place to grab a coffee and cake etc if visiting the Gainsborough house and museum.

A really relaxing, friendly and welcoming cafe. The coffee is excellent and the food is good. Service can be slow at times if you are in a hurry but this is all part of the relaxed atmosphere.

Great coffee, delicious pastries. Warm and inviting atmosphere. Best of all no children or buggies to trip over. Encouraged to linger over the papers and enjoy chatting to the staff and other patrons. Will try lunch next time.

I have visited recently on a Friday evening with good friends and found it to be a very intimate and friendly wine bar with extraordinary hosts.
I then visited on Friday morning for brunch to be greeted by a small but individual menu, and a chef (David the owner) who adapted the menu to our taste.
This is a unique venue, run by a fun loving and welcoming family.
Having had a wobbly first visit last summer, I eat my words and am delighted I was given the chance to be welcomed back.

Pleasant, reasonably priced cafe just down the road from Gainsborough's House. You will always receive a warm welcome, but service is none too swift-- so probably not the best place to choose if you are on a tight timetable. But otherwise a relaxing and friendly place.

having eaten in Davids today I was not disappointed.. the beef was so tender you really don;t have to chew it and it really was delicious. The coffee was the best I have tasted in a long while....well done David and your staff and the interior is superb and having a no children policy is excellent so you can eat and talk in peace and comfort

A relaxing cafe on the high street, we stopped for mid-morning coffee and toasted teacakes. The owner was ill and we received apologies from the friendly staff that the menu was limited. Teacakes were possible but they only had one left so I settled for a cheese scone, and was well pleased that I did. Possibly the best cheese scone I’ve ever had. The coffee was excellent, too.
Friendly service, a great experience.

Wanted a nice, quiet cafe for a light lunch - and was delighted to stumble across David's Cafe. The food was personally cooked by the proprietor, David, and served by a lovely lady, Anne - one of the family team that run the Cafe. Homemade Smoked Haddock fish cakes, french fries and petite pois were perfect - and under £6. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated - and with a 'no children' policy, would suit those wanting a leisurely lunch with some peace and quiet. Hope this will be the first of many visits.

We had lunch here yesterday in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Tea and fruit juices to start followed by the most amazing Medallions of fillet steak with mushrooms & tomatoes on ciabatta bread. My partner had the Escalope of chicken fillet with a salad and fries (both dishes were cooked to perfection).
The best lunch time experience we have had in the Sudbury area.Amazing value for good quality food, friendly staff and a great chef.
Thank you David, we'll definitely be back 😀

Had lunch here today after hearing from my sister what wonderful food David serves. We ordered coffee (which was best I've tasted!!) - and the sliced fillet steak on ciabatta with cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. I can honestly say it was the most amazing meal! Extremely reasonably priced at just over £8. It was soooo nice....we ordered it again rather than a dessert LOL....and it was just as good second time around! I can't emphasis enough what a lovely place this is....I will certainly be recommending David's to all my friends. I'm not 'anti-children' at all BUT it was so relaxing to eat and chat in an adult only environment! Afraid your star system only goes to 5....I would give it 10!
