Our local authority are amongst others supporting the Solihull BID (Business Improvement District)  The object of a BID is to form a partnership between businesses and the local authority to develop projects and services that benefit the trading environment.

If Solihull town centre achieves BID status it will be totally driven and paid for by the town centre businesses themselves.  The BID can only go ahead following a majority yes vote; the voting will take place early next year.

Sandra Grinnell, is Solihull's BID Project Manager and says “Solihull town centre competitors are just a few miles away, they are developing their shopping and professional business environments, then the Solihull Borough will need to up its game to keep ahead"

What is happening now?   The BID Team are trying to get the message across to businesses in the town centre, there are running daily sessions until the middle of August, having 1:1 meetings with businesses to get the message across.  The meetings are being held three times daily at Touchwood, St John's Hotel and the Ramada in Solihull.

Local business should find out as much as they can about the BID process so that they are able to make an informed decision when asked to vote.

There is a full briefing pack in Adobe PDF on the website
