Organiser's of the Knowle Fun Run are mindful that many people will be focussing on next weeks elections, and that runners will miss the vital deadline for entry (online at www.KnowleFunRun.org.uk ) into this year’s 27th Knowle Fun Run - Friday 7th May.
With only 300 (call 01564770749 for the latest figure) places left as we went to press it is probable that the 5 mile run will sell out before election day and late comers will be disappointed.
The 5 mile Knowle Fun Run with 2 laps on traffic free roads and 2 Mini Runs for the under 9’s is one of the Midlands biggest community fundraising events.
Whilst the Run is not until Sunday 16th May the Lions have to close entries early, sold out or not, to ensure they receive the runners timing chips and numbers in time. There is absolutely no entry on the day. This year’s event will raise funds for the Parkinson’s Disease Society, Teenage Cancer Trust and fly2help as well as local causes and the Lions hope that individuals as well as companies have been getting their efforts sponsored to raise lots of money for these worthy causes.
‘Since we have been obliged to close the course to traffic for the duration of the Fun Run, 11.45am to 2pm, we have found that the Fun Run sell out each year,’ says organiser Lion Adrian Harris. ‘As usual we shall be welcoming runners from all over the country, not just the Midlands.’
