Help Riya Campaign
A pupil at DMS is desperately ill.
Riya Dandekar is just 21 years old
and was diagnosed with a rare type
of blood cancer called Anaplastic
Lymphoma on March 10th this
year. She performed at our concert
at symphony hall on 16th!
Riya has been bed ridden following
numerous cycles of chemotherapy,
leaving her weak and exhausted.
Riya’s parents, both in the medical
profession have told us of the
struggle that is now upon them after
every door has closed the only
option for Riya is a stem cell
transplant.
Leigh has contacted the BBC and Midlands today will be covering the story. Leigh is also organising a DMS Help Riya campaign asking everyone to register and be tested to see if there could be a possible stem cell match for her.
It’s easy to register and a tester kit will be delivered to your home which is simply taking a mouth swab!
DMS will also have open sessions every Tuesday for the month of August between 4 and 6pm where ANYONE can come along and register or if you have your tester pack already be tested there and then.
It's easy, pain free and could save Riya or other lives.
