Classic Car Show in Mell Square!

 

Iconic Cars, an Artist Star and a Day of Free Entertainment for all the family! Gear up to join in the fun at the Mell Square Classic Car show 2011;

 

Saturday 16th July, 10am -  4pm.

 

The event promises to be a fabulous family day out for all with an array of classic cars battling it out to win the title of The Best Car of the Day - in association with the Solihull Rotary and REMAP. In addition, there will be a variety of family fun entertainment that is sure to get you racing down to the show!

 

Motoring enthusiasts from across the country will be making their way to the show at Mell Square Shopping Centre, in Solihull on Saturday 16th July 10am-4pm, which will feature a host of classic cars and iconic vehicles, including a Rover Jet 1 replica (the first gas turbine car made by Rover), a 1936 Austin 10, a 1959 Humber Snipe, a 1948 Standard Flying 8, a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger, a 1968 Porsche 912 and many more!

 

The day will offer an action-packed programme of events for all the family with a variety of interactive entertainment... visitors with a need for speed may wish to try their hand at the F1 Pit Stop Challenge - where guests will be given a master class on how to change the wheels of an F1 racing car and then take on the challenge of racing in a life-sized F1 simulator!

 

For those with a competitive streak, there will be an F1 Giant Scalextric Track Challenge where visitors can race head-to-head on a multi-lane Grand Prix circuit using the latest high speed scale racing cars. 

 

Finally, for the culture vultures among you, a nationally acclaimed artist, Ian Cook, Creator of Pop Bang Colour will be making an appearance in his home town of Solihull! He will be creating artwork before bedazzled crowds using his unique style of painting with remote control cars on canvas. Ian’s motoring inspired antics have seen him work with a Formula 1 great when he was recently asked to do a portrait of F1 champ, Lewis Hamilton on behalf of his sponsors, Reebok.

 

Mell Square Centre Manager, Paul Round comments: “The Centre is thrilled to be hosting the Mell Square Classic Car show 2011 and supporting the local Rotary club. It is a free, family fun day out with something for everyone. We are also extremely pleased to be welcoming such a high profile artist and we are sure Ian Cook’s unique art will be immensely popular and a real sight to behold.”
