19th August 2010

Solihull's inaugural parkrun at Brueton Park was held at the end of July, and with in excess of 130 people registered the run has proved really popular with the folk of Solihull.

parkrun is a free weekly 5km timed run around Brueton Park each Saturday morning starting at 9am.

Nick Pullen of Solihull News spoke with acting Solihull race director Phil Innamorati who admitted: “There’s a real danger we could lose the Brueton Park run after this Saturday if volunteers don’t come forward. That would be a shame because Brueton Park is a lovely run.

“Officially it’s a timed run and the goals are whatever people set themselves”.

With backing from Nike, Lucozade Sport, Sweatshop and the London Marathon, who cover operational costs and new event start up.

Nick says “Such is the interest, that Nike are planning to put a promotion on at Brueton Park for August 28,  providing this week’s run receives sufficient support.”

As with most free events volunteers are at the heart of this venture.  parkrun are looking for people to come forward to help, so if you would like to be part of something special and want to volunteer then email bruetonhelpers@parkrun.com  or paul@parkrun.com for further information.
