A really cosy restaurant (unless you want more space in the big room upstairs). Delicious and beautifully presented food. A great choice for a real treat. My Halibut was perfect.

Very probably the most tasteful Sunday Roast in Shopshire. The ambiance is lovely, the inside decoration very cosy.
The owner is very helpful, nice and welcoming. The 3 course menu for the Sunday road is a no-brainer. Everything was delicious, I will definitely come back if I can.

My husband and I had always wanted to have a meal here as looks so cosy and romantic. Booked at the beginning of December. Greeted and shown to table. I had a long coat on and had nowhere to put it as sitting on a bench. Literally had to ball it up and put it next to me. Menus bought over and drinks ordered - all good. A few more tables arrived - clearly regulars - were asked if they could take their coats, shown to table and told of specials and changes to the menu - which we hadn’t. Came to order 20 mins after drinks arrived, I said I had over heard changes not been told - no apology just a shrug. Starters pleasant, main was not and we both asked for it to be changed as it wasn’t as was we had been told and had a massive dollop of cranberry sauce in the middle which overpowered everything. I reordered steak and hubby ordered beef rib. Both nice. Wine we ordered at £26 for the bottle was very weak. Desserts were very good however. Bill came and 2 rounds of drinks added which we hadn’t had - again pointed out to receive a shrug of the shoulders! Just generally there was a lack of attentiveness here - regulars treated a lot better. We won’t be back which is a shame.

We had an excellent meal at the Golden Cross.

It's a very old pub, but it's now a restaurant really. It's beautiful inside.

Watercress soup, pheasant, twice cooked chips, ginger snap and ice cream all delicious!

Very good covid precautions.

We had a delicious meal here on Saturday evening.
The decor inside is absolutely divine, what a unique find.
Loved it.
The food was delicious, especially the starters. We had the smoked salmon and goats cheese.
The beer and wine was great, plenty of choice.
The service was very friendly.
All covid safety precautions were followed.
I would throughly recommend this for a special evening out.

We managed to have Sunday lunch here between lockdowns. Four of us had a really lovely experience. We all had starters, main course, dessert and coffee. The Sunday lunch was fantastic, really tasty and among the best we have ever had ( and we’ve had quite a few). We would all definitely recommend this venue.

A converted pub in the heart of Shrewsbury; this is a quaint and popular little venue.
None of the starters grabbed us so we kicked straight off with the Smoked Sweet Potato & Oxtail Tacos and the Wood Fired Tandoori Chicken with Bombay Potatoes. Both sounded a lot more exciting than they were (both were just a little bland) and the chicken was a little overcooked. For dessert we had the Creme Brulee with Peaches in Lavender and the Chocolate Banana Bread with Ice Cream & Caramel Sauce. Both were really nice with the creme brulee a highlight.
With a couple of beers, the final bill came to £58 which is reasonable. This is a reasonably priced and friendly restaurant with good service but the food for me is just a little below par.

We hadn't visited te Golden Cross foraging few years but visited to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday. Lovely setting, feels different to the norm. Attentive, responsive but relaxed service. Good seasonal choice on the menu and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you.
Only point was for a group of 7 (an awkward number) our table was a bit cramped.Highly recommend.

I cannot put enough into words to describe this wonderful establishment.
It is a truly unique dining experience, which starts with the warmest of greetings from the lovely owners upon arrival and proceeds to offer an adventure into a world of culinary delights & beverages, which serve to compliment the imaginative and creative decor in the different dining areas. The amount of passion and hard work, which has gone into making this restaurant one of Shrewsbury’s best venues is evident for all to see & I would strongly recommend anyone who is a food and wine connoisseur to try it.
Thanks to Theresa, Gareth & their team for making my evenings over the years here so special.

Tucked away down a small side street is this quaint hotel pub, that’s old and creaky. Through the heavy rustic wooden doors you enter into a small stylish eclectic restaurant. The ambient candlelight is enough to read the wine list at your leisure and take your time... for there is no rushing here.....
We went as a group of four and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely meal, good wine followed by coffees of our choice ... baileys, tequila and americano with cream. It took a little time to serve each course but then again why not? We had the whole evening to relax and enjoy in a comfortable interesting cosy setting full of history.

Stepped in to be greeted by a wonderfully decorated period pub, warm and charming. Staff immediately greeted us and were very friendly and attentive. I had the pheasant special which was also superb with a great mix of flavours. I will definitely return!

Enjoyed a meal here with my wife last night and must say, after being disappointed with the quality of food in some of the local restaurants repeatedly in the last couple of months, we didn’t hold out much hope - what a surprise! Our food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Every course was superb, perfectly cooked and seasoned and unpretentious and flavourful. Service was efficient and friendly, the owners were delightful and the restaurant had a lovely ambience. Will definitely be back and will recommend to others... not that they need me to, they were full to the rafters!

Visited the golden cross for lunch .looked enticing from the outside. Thought it was a pub bar as well as restaurant. I was surprised as we entered .the decor and seating is quite weird .the propietors were friendly and welcoming. The menu was varied .ordered the coq au vin . Overpriced for an average meal .at these prices for mains they need to offer a little more .
