I absolutely rely on A-Plan (now Howden) to tell me when my car insurance is due, to consult with me about quotes, and to provide a competitive quote. I am delighted with the service I have received from the Bournemouth Triangle office.

Annual premium went up 20%, ok can live with that as it was expected in line with inflation etc, total annual premium for 8k miles = £350. Went to add 500 miles business use and was charged £120 inc admin fee - ridiculous.
**Update 21/3/24** - Following up from the review I have been contacted by Jessica from Howden Insurance. She advised that I had been incorrectly charged and has processed a refund for the admin charge and a further £78.50 refund against the business mileage usage, resulting in a £20 charge for adding business use. Based on this I have updated the rating.

I renewed my House Insurance over the phone. The young lady was very nice and very thorough. She asked me all the relevant questions and gave me a quote with which I was happy about and paid there and then.

Easy company to deal with - but charging £75 to cancel a policy due to changing vehicles is a bloody rip off!!
UPDATE: After leaving a 3-star review, A-Plan (Howden) have been in touch with me and offered to refund £50 of the admin fee as they couldn't offer me cover on my new vehicle. So for now they can have 4 stars. 5 when the money hits my account.

I have always found them to be super helpful for whatever insurance I am buying. You maybe could get the same product for less on line - or at least you think you are getting the same product. When you by insurance you need to be sure it is covering you for what you need - you can ask these folks all those awkward questions that you can't ask a robot on line.

I phoned to pay for my home insurance having already received the renewal notice this was around 4.30 pm no home insurance specialist available I then rang the head office and said I wanted to renew my buildings insurance admittedly about 4.50 by this time situation. I am looking after my wife who has had a stroke and have to phone when I get time said they would phone me the next day. But phoned about 9.30 am next day and got someone as if they had phoned had no idea what I would be doing I explained it had to be when I had a few minutes to spare rather than when they had time. But resolved in the end ok.

However I am not happy with the posting of the above documents
Last year it took four attempts for the household documents to arrive
This time the car insurance took three attempts
Which finally arrived on the 16th March a month after the first one was posted
On the positive side when I spoke to Morgan at Haywards Heath on the 14th he said he was going to post it first class
Which he did and as I have stated it arrived on th16th
I am happy with everything at Haywards Heath involving the insurances for both my wife and I but the post is worrying me
Where are all my documents which in the wrong hands could lead to identity fraud
