I stayed in the Albright Hussey manor for 2 nights for a close friends wedding. I have to say the venue is beautiful and well worth staying in for a wedding or just for a night away. However, the real gem of the hotel is its staff all the way from the manager to the bar staff. They were all extremely welcoming and could not do enough for us. Everyone one greeted us with a smile and with the upmost professionalism. If I am ever in this part of the world again I would not think twice about booking in! Plus the bar has a lovely spirits section and the cocktails have to be tried!

Attended fantastic wedding here August bank holiday . This independent hotel is a must for any bride . All the staff were caring and attentive . Cleaning staff shared our excitement in the morning . Waiter from Barcelona looked after everyone , making coffee and keeping bridal party calm , caring asking after elderly relatives .
Honestly couldn't have asked for better venue .
AND ..... No wet weddings at Albright ..... Garden wedding carried out perfectly .
A credit to management and Shropshire xxx

Nice old hotel, friendly service and an excellent breakfast. The room I stayed in needed a little 'modernisation' but other than that I couldn't fault the place. I'd happily recommend it to friends and will stay again if in the area.

Just an overnight stay. Quiet night even though there was a big wedding party staying. Friendly service and good breakfast. Car essential. Annexe rooms and decor dated but clean. Pretty gardens and dining room.

I found Albright Hussey Manor very clean and bright. My room was super with a four poster bed together with all the usual mod cons.

The only minor annoyance is that at breakfast I was served my cooked breakfast whilst still eating my cereal. The girl who served me was slightly rude in that she saw how awkward it was for me to stop mid meal, and move my bowl so that she could place the plate in front of me. Surely etiquette would suggest a further course would not be served until the first is finished?

We stayed here as part of a wedding party in the new quarters.
The wedding and venue itself was stunning and a great day was had by all. I was a little disappointed by the meal as I thought the main course for what the bride and groom paid was a bit chewy and bland but that's minor.
The breakfast the next day was superb.
My main gripe was our room. Such high hopes when we arrived and saw the old building then to be placed at the end of a corridor in the new part, next to the generator room, was awful. The walls were paper thin and the noise from the laundry/generator room was terrible.
This didn't however impact on how much we enjoyed the wedding and we would stay again if we could get in the older quarters.

Stayed here at the end of July as I was looking for a place to hold my 60th birthday in November and was considering this place as it looked nice on their website.
Lucky I decided to try this place out beforehand. As I stated the place looks charming from the outside and the restaurant menu looks like it would be an interesting place to eat.
We arrived on Sunday evening, went to our bedrooms to relax before coming down to dinner...What a disappointment! The menu we were presented with bore no relation to the one advertised on their website or the one in the brochure in our rooms!
Instead of a choice of 8 starters and mains, we were given a menu which offered starters of either Soup, Melon, Risotto or Smoked Salmon
The mains offered were Roast beef, roast pork, roast lamb, battered Pollock or a vegetarian tart. Desserts were as basic as the rest of the menu. I commented that this was not what was advertised. I was told that on a Sunday evening, they just repeat the Sunday lunch-time menu. If I'd known this then I would have avoided booking. However this was just the start. The following morning I happened to notice that there was a stain on the mattress. When I pulled the sheet back, I was confronted by a mattress with six large stains across it, and not only that, but on the other side of the bed the mattress was ripped!
After breakfast I complained at reception and insisted that I was to be moved to another room. When I returned at 5.00pm a lovely lady (I think her name was Mel) apologised profusely and said that she had upgraded us to a suite with a four poster and a whirlpool bath. While the incident should never have happened, Mel did everything in her power to make amends for us. The meal on the Monday night in the restaurant was excellent with the proper menu being offered to us.
It's a pity that the first night was such a catastrophe as I ended up booking my 60th at Soulton Hall (just down the road). So although I can only rate my first night as 1 star, luckily, with Mel's intervention the second day rated as 5 stars, so I feel that a 3 star rating is fair.

My husband booked this accommodation when I am usually the booking person and at first glance on an iphone I thought we were staying in a barn lol. Wow wasn't I pleasantly surprised. This hotel is out of town and down a beautiful long driveway. There is ample car parking and the hotel is very popular for 5 star weddings. The grounds are just immaculate and the rooms have all been renovated and are beautiful. The "barn" as I call it is the restaurant and bar area and was built centuries ago. It still has character with uneven floors etc. The food and spanish waiter in the restaurant is 5 star all the way. Perfect for honeymooners, business people and mature couples. Reception staff were lovely too.

we went to the annual vape meet in Shrewsbury and I wanted to make this weekend a bit special - and special it was :
room : spotless clean - thank you also for giving us room no 7 close to the entrance and with the huge shower, very suited for somebody disabled
staff : many thanks to Mr Brewster and his team - Noor, Javier and the others, whose names I don,t know, so friendly and efficient, they could not do enough for us
food : excellent
location : just beautiful - a little tip : if your satnav says, that you have reached the destination and you see only fields, you are on the right track, just follow the small road for about a mile and you will be there :-)
will we be back ? - certainly

Very nice venue with lovely grounds, staff were very accommodating, nothing was ever too much trouble, the rooms were very nice and the wedding food and breakfast was great. The sausages were probably the best we've ever had (true story...) Dont forget to look out for the black swans!

A lovely hotel, after a horrific journey the staff (especially the general manager) went out of his way to make the rest of my evening enjoyable. Including arranging some very speedy room service as i was starving! Will definitely stay again for the service alone.

My friends wedding was amazing. The grounds are beautiful. The staff work so hard and the bar prices are reasonable. We stayed in room 6 on the ground floor and it was very nice. Nice little touches such as water in bottles and a note from the house keeper. The breakfast was yummy. I had fruit and continental and hubby had fry up. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome and giving my friend the wedding she deserved

We have visited this hotel on numerous occasions to celebrate family occasions - birthdays, mother's day anniversaries etc. It is always our first choice for special events and we are never disappointed with the service, food or ambience in the hotel. The manager, Malcolm is an absolute delight!! He is always so friendly, welcoming and helpful; he keeps us all entertained with his witty jokes and stories. We were very surprised recently to learn that he was the manager and not the owner of the hotel; what lucky owners to have such a dedicated, charming and committed gentleman as front of house for their establishment.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a beautiful venue, charming ambience and wonderfully welcoming staff.

We stayed here overnight as our friends got married here.
It really is a beautiful place, perfect for a wedding.
The wedding took place outside in the manor grounds with champagne served outside and then inside for the wedding meal.
The food was great, we had a three course meal and every course was good.
Staff were friendly and our 20 month old was catered for with half portions, highchairs and travel cots provided.
Morning breakfast was good with choice of hot and continental food.
Our room was lovely, clean and quite spacious .
Would recommend especially for weddings .

Lovely hotel - in two parts - we were in the newer part. Rooms were comfortable but decor looking a little dated now. Old part of hotel was really very quirky with interesting nooks and crannies. Staff had real personality and could not do enough for you. Definitely need a car as hotel is literally in the middle of fields. Food was very good - desserts to die for!

Stayed overnight for a function. Reception staff and manager exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bar and function staff were ..... functional, but very unfriendly.

Food tasted of packet sauce in every option on offer. Dreadful stuff. Drinks prices very expensive. Average price of £7 for a small glass of wine, meaning that they make around £30 for a bottle of cheap plonk that costs them no more than £3 or less to buy in.

Best bit was the silence on checking in and waking in the morning. The hotel is well outside Shrewsbury and there's nothing close by in terms of pubs or restaurants, but the seclusion is part of its appeal.

As I only ate what was provided for our function, and didn't have breakfast, I can't comment on the hotel's a la carte or table d'hote options. I can only hope it tastes less packaged than the events menu.

Finally, a word about hygiene and cleanliness. The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout, from bar to bedroom.

With a little more attention to producing home cooked food and more than a little reduction in bar prices this hotel would take two giant steps in the right direction.

Stayed here for an 8 course tasting dinner, wine, bed & breakfast.
Food was divine, everything you expect from a top tasting menu. Looked and tasted wonderful. Service was spot-on. Breakfast was outstanding, lots of choice, everything cooked to perfection, The atmosphere in the hall for both meals was delightful, service was top-notch, so well-done to kitchen & restaurant staff.
The wine was less impressive. We paid for the wine selection to accompany each course - in fact there were 4 glasses each, (not the 7 or 8 which it needs). None complimented the food, they did nothing to enhance the experience. Sad, really, as when it is done properly, a well matched wine makes the meal magical.
The room was clean, bright, comfortable. But what spoiled the whole event was the lack of sound-proofing. Honestly, we heard the people in the next room open their curtains, shut the bathroom door, flush the loo. They must have been hearing us as well. Totally put us off, if you know what I mean!

We got married here on March 27th and words honesty cannot describe what an amazing day and night it was. The staff are top class and couldn't do enough to help and the venue is stunning. We were lucky enough to marry on the lawn and couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting. The food was brilliant from start to finish. We will be back again soon for a Sunday roast. This place is amazing!

Really comfy room, good service, hearty breakfast with well cooked good quality ingredients. I was just looking for a place to crash after a wedding party. The room was an "executive double", spacious with a nice four poster and a lovely view of Shropshire. Staff are very attentive and got me a taxi as I flew through for a swift shower before heading out again! Highly recommended if you want a quaint hotel with a beautiful backdrop.

We were staying two nights Friday and Saturday (3 couples) , all of us had really nice rooms in the old manor house.
We had a special rate which included a Gourmet Meal the first night (went into Shrewsbury second night), we all had the wine flight with the meal. Depsite six different perspectives and food likes we all agreed the food was excellent and the service exemplary. A few of our party had drinsk in the lounge afterwards, someone ordered a Bailey's, it tasted a bit different, it turned out it was orange bailey, they were very good at changing the drink then when finding it was still ornage replacing it with something else all at low cost.
Breakfast on saturday was cooked to order but on sunday when hotel was full the cooked meal was a buffet, this was only slight dip.
On saturday evening the manager arranged a large taxi for us, and when it was late negotiated with the owner of the company to get the ride into Shrewsbury for free. All in all a great break.

My Wife & I had a one night stay as a treat for my 60th birthday. The hotel is in two parts, the old manor house & a newer accommodation block. We stayed in the Hussey Suite in the old manor which was like stepping back in time. The room was full of history & atmosphere, it was clean, tidy & spacious with an on-suite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. We had an evening meal which was all local produce & was really tasty & well presented by excellent waiting staff & breakfast the following morning was also very good (full English).

Two nights of real old fashioned service, from check-in, throughout the stay in the hotel and the restaurant to the departure. We sampled the tasting menu one night and had a "standard" meal the second. Both were wonderful, tasty, beautifully presented and served. The setting of the old manor enhances the experience and nothing is too much trouble.
All the management and staff were lovely and made us feel really special. We will return when the weather improves
