We booked a two night stay and on both days the venue was holding a wedding. Once checked into our clean but basic room we went into the bar and was told we were not allowed to sit in the sitting area and we had to sit outside due to the function. (It was raining).
Breakfast was very poor, food arrived after a long wait very dry and over cooked.
Front door locked and no night Porter (10pm)

Attended a private function in Marquee so didn't see much if hotel itself. However, the loos were good and the receptionist was really very helpful.

Attended family wedding. Hotel is in a beautiful setting and the staff were very welcoming and friendly, room was dated and shabby. The mattress was cheap and not very comfortable. breakfast was well overpriced. For what I paid I would have expected a lot more. I have stayed in other hotels in Shrewsbury and have had better quality rooms and breakfast for a lot less money. I don't think I would stop there again.
As a taxi driver in Shrewsbury and knowledgeable ambassador of the town I think the hotel needs to improve in a lot of areas before I could recommend it to any my customers.

Excellent venue for any garden party. Beautiful setting in the grounds of a historic house. Also very helpful staff.

Nice place but I thought it wasn't as clean as I thought it should have been cobwebs in the window were we had breakfast and there were thick dust in our bedroom draws

Attended a wedding here. Well planned but needs some more seating outside whilst people are waiting around for photos. If we had had a seat we might have had a drink in the sunshine

Great venue to have with their pizza oven. Price was good too, thought it would have been more for stone bake pizza
Was about £10 for a normal one

Stayed here when attending a wedding nearby. Lovely setting. Good breakfast. Looks like a popular wedding venue at weekends so avoid if you want a bit of solitude. I found it cheaper to book through booking site than through their website. I enjoyed it.

Room a little dated but visit totally made by the exceptional levels of customer service which is sometimes lost in hotels nowadays.

Particular thanks to Kristen and the General Manager for their attention to detail and ensuring the high levels of service.

We visited the restaurant as a family for Fathers Day. The food was excellent, the beef joint was cooked how we requested, lots of veg and the creamy peas with bacon were very tasty. Plenty of food and we were given more upon request. Lots of gravy and lovely crumble for pudding. Overall impressed with the roast.

Unfortunately there are a few things that would have made the overall experience a little more rounded. Things we expected to see from a posh hotel were things like linen napkins instead of paper and nice goblet gin glasses instead of the straight standard water glasses for gin & tonics. The staff were helpful, although they could have been more friendly and a ‘hello and welcome to our restaurant’ is always nice when you walk in before going straight to just bluntly saying what’s the name.. It’s just the little things that make a big difference I guess.

Well done to all the employees for their attentiveness during our two night stay. We enjoyed our room, evening meals and breakfasts. The grounds and indoor facilities were well cared for. Out Trainee Guide Dog was made a big fuss of and we felt like royalty!

Nice hotel, lovely grounds but the drinks prices are ridiculous. Single vodka & coke & a pint of lager over £12. Thats dearer than london prices!!!

We had to cancel due to travel restrictions. The staff was very friendly and efficient cancelling the accomodation and went out of their way to help and return some PCR tests we ordered.

As a key worker have stayed at this hotel recently, great WiFi, rooms are excellent and good exercise walks on the doorstep. There is a single meal evening option with no dessert on offer that needs to be booked in advance.

The breakfast is a bag and go which has an apple, two croissants breakfast bar, orange juice and a yogurt, would be good if it offered other fresh fruit and low fat or 0% fat free yogurt as an option, staff very friendly and would stay again if working in Shropshire
