Richmond Business and Retail Association - Giving businesses in the borough a stronger voice through business support and networking and creating a closer liaison and dialogue with Councillors and the Council.

The Richmond Business & Retail Association was formed in 2007 to give businesses a stronger voice and create a closer liaison and dialogue with Councillors and the Council so they are aware of the problems facing shops and businesses in the area and the issues that need to be addressed if we are to maintain Richmond as an attractive and successful town.

The aim of Richmond Business and Retail Association

The key purpose of the Richmond Business and Retail Association is to:

  • Bring together businesses, retailers and residents to promote Richmond.
  • Give the business and retail sectors a strong voice and create a closer liaison and dialogue with councillors and the council so they are aware of the problems facing businesses and shops and the issues that need to be addressed if we are to have an attractive and successful town.
  • Allow the business and retail sectors to work with the councillors and council in order to improve Richmond as a vibrant and prosperous town

Richmond Business and Retail Association objectives:

  • Work with businesses, residents and community organisations to provide initiatives that benefit the area, while retaining Richmond's unique character.
  • Encourage more visitors by capitalising on Richmond's heritage, natural attractions - river, park, green and its small specialist shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.
  • Promote cultural activities along the Riverside area.
  • Ensure there is a welcoming environment for visitors, including better information and signage
  • Improve accessibility and keep the town clean and free from graffiti
  • Work with the Safer Neighbourhood team to ensure the town is safe.

Having the right exact of retail and eating/drinking outlets is pivotal and long term the association will endeavour to identify the town's major freeholders and encourage them to work with them to attract targeted retailers.
