Firstly, great location and comfy beds and the air con is a massive plus given the heat in the room even in November.
The downside was the car parking, only 32 spaces available and nearly all taken when checking in at 2pm. The room, although comfortable was small for a holiday inn and had not been cleaned adequately enough. There was still beard stubble in the sink.
Also, being an ihg member, I requested a room away from the lift and non allergy pillows, neither of which were supplied. I appreciate that these are only requests but when placed 3 weeks in advance, I can't understand why we did not get these and have not come across this in any other holiday inn.
All in all, I would return but suggest there may be better value out there in the same price bracket considering you may also have to pay for parking if you don't get there early enough.

We chose this hotel due to the close proximity to the guild hall. When we arrived the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was very basic. My only issue from our short stay was (First world Problem): the electrical sockets were placed in such a way that we could not plug in any of our phones etc to charge up unless we unplugged the one placed for the kettle. This also meant that we couldn't even use the in room ironing equipment at the same time as my wife wanted to straighten her hair. Room was very quiet on the 7th floor, even with the windows open. I think next time we will choose another hotel for a longer stay and due to the distance from the train station.

Stayed for one night before a business meeting. Welcomed very warmly at reception, the room was comfortable, although tea/coffee was missing! Bar was welcoming but a bit pricey.
On the whole it was a good place to stay even if the building is a little tired and in meed of refurbishment to bring it up to the standard of other hotels in the group.
Good value, I would stay there again.

I stayed here for three nights on business and I think it’s great value for money. Yes the car park is very small and in reality I only managed to get in it for one of my nights but the bus station car park is 50 yds away convenient and cheap. The staff are so helpful and friendly across the site from reception to bar and restaurant and cleaners! My room was clean and dry with what appeared to be a refurbished bathroom. I’m a stickler for a good shower and rarely give a good review without one so this speaks for itself. I liked the idea of the wooden window shutters they are so much better than manky curtains. Breakfast was good the bar area reasonably priced and the bar menu really tasty. The roads get busy at rush hour which makes it a challenge in the car but you’re 5 mins walk from the city centre if you fancy a stroll in the evening. Will definitely use the hotel again.

We recently visited for a meal with old friends who were staying at the hotel. They said that they were very happy with their accommodation except for being small. We had a meal which was very enjoyable and out of 11 of us no one had any complaints. The service was excellent, the staff being very attentive and helpful in spite of being quite busy. A very pleasant evening and would return.

While walking the Coast between Rosthwaite and Grasmere in wet, slippery conditions, I slipped and fell sustaining serious injuries. After 4 days in hospital we spent a total 11 days in the Holiday Inn Preston while I recovered. Abul, one of the managers at reception, provided outstanding service, as did his colleagues Dina and Georgia. Nothing was too much of an effort and they were friendly and efficient . The hotel is well appointed and the rooms, although on the small side, are very clean and comfortable. Daily breakfast is delicious and the restaurant staff are also very customer oriented. The hotel restaurant provides an adequate menu and meals are well prepared. The hotel is also centrally located and it is only a short stroll into the main shopping area. As an added bonus, Preston bus station is right across the road. We thoroughly recommend this hotel when visiting Preston.

I am an IHG member.

Car park is small and was full when I arrived.

Building is drab and unwelcoming.

Reception upstairs. Ok welcome.

They arranged for me to park in an overflow car park. It was free.

Room - booked a double bed, got a twin. Reasonable size. Clean.

Bar - better service than reception. Polite and efficient.
San Miguel on draught.
Ordered a Chunky Beef Chilli with Rice - it was poor for nearly £13. Lacked taste, presentation and quantity!
Menu is so uninspiring. Come on food development person - try a bit harder. The menu itself doesn't make you excited to eat here.

Business - so so. Would choose if cheap.
Personal - never.

Average.

I arrived in Preston on Monday evening after a five hour drive. What little parking at the hotel was already fully committed so I had to look elsewhere. The multistorey at the bus station opposite is being refurbished in places and access was very difficult. There are no carparks that I could find within easy distance of the hotel it would take other than cash payments. I finally found my way into the multistorey opposite and was able to use a parking app on my phone. Apart from that hotel services were efficient at check-in and checkout my room on the fifth floor was comfortable and quiet and I had a good night sleep. Breakfast was good and well presented I would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here for one night en route to a holiday in Scotland. We had a clean and comfortable double room with a comfortable bed. The room had tea making facilities, an ironing board and iron, hairdryer and TV. En suite shower room very clean. Nice bar and dining area. Breakfast was very good with a choice of cooked breakfast or cereals. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Hotel is in a good location, central to Preston city center
Rooms are nice as you would expect
Food is always good
There is a nice lounge and restaurant
Wifi is good
Two lifts to help access

My ongoing frustration is the small in store car park which is often full. If you arrive in the late evening you are unlikely to get a space

That being said there is a good large car park across the road, it's being refurbished to a gig standard and I believe is £6ish for 24hours which is good value (compared to London)

I always stay here.. so it must be good
Friendly staff help with booking taxis etc

Stayed here a few times for business now and whilst this is the best hotel in the area, it isn't the best - and falls short of Hilton's usual standards.
It is very dates and the rooms and decor show this, but on the plus side it is quite clean and comfortable, and the staff are pleasant and friendly.
Parking is only for a few cars out front and then you have to use the car park opposite, above the bus station, which does not fill you with confidence!
If your room is on one side of the hotel you get to hear the buses then the ongoing work on the his station from first thing in the morning. If the room is on the other side of the hotel there is a busy road junction where it would seem some of the locals sound like they may carry out races through the night.

Very nice hotel, location can't be better, parking, we must have been lucky as there is not a lot of spaces. Rooms are very clean, facilities good, breakfast first class, I can't really fault anything. If passing again I will sure to book again.

Me and my cousin decided to go to blackpool last minute after a night out in Glasgow at 3 in the morning, we phoned up for an early check in , and was told it was fine, usually the check in is at 14.00 but we got one at 08.30. which we appreciate and happy about. driving into the hotel we noticed how small the car park is. and was difficult to get any space. The bus station parking was under construction and was closed. Another parking building is behind the bus station, and need to say how poorly is built, I scraped my wives new car , when I turned the car to go up the ramp upon entry to the car park. very badly designed . The hotel room was fine, decent views from the 6th floor. shower was good, toilet flush was a bit hard, breakfast Chinese lady was a bit cheeky when we walked in at 10.30 looking at her watch and shaking her head. asking us our names. I noticed she never done that with the other guests. being polite with them that came in after us. . car parking an issue. and Chinese woman had a bad attitude in breakfast and have a hefty bill from scratching wives car , from unusually designed car park behind bus station car park, but apart from that everything was fine.

This hotel is preston central great location
Stay on the second floor there is a few reasons why
I'll let you find them out yourself
Nothing wrong with other parts of the hotel I'm not saying that it was easy for me that floor as smoker

The meet and greet was first glass I've stayed in five star hotels and I have not had a warmer welcome than the one I got from this hotel excellent front desk
Even sorted out my car parking as hotel car park was full
The disabled bay was empty and they allowed me to park my car there providing I could move it if needed .... it was not so I left the car there all the time

The room
Excellent really good and clean I was well impressed

The breakfast was outstanding a credit to the staff and the management who run this hotel

I was a very happy customer and yes I'm particular and I usually hunt out faults and I could but this hotel hits all my boxes for clean a good nights sleep in a clean bed

You will not go wrong staying here
The cost was £114 per night a bit expensive but you get what you pay for

Preston central and the above

Well done staff who by the way make the management look good who must support and guide the staff

Excellent

We arrived late evening. The small inadequate car park was full so we had to park into the adjacent multi storey which was being refurbished itself and didn't look the safest and signage within re payment disappointing but this however is beyond the hotels control. On checking in we were assured that the multi storey car park was safe and had 24 hour patrols.

Check in was without any issues and soon in our room. It itself was clean in not too bad condition however one of the smallest rooms I've stayed in. Better appointed than a premier inn but not as large.

Bed was comfy and the linen was not to bad either.

Breakfast next morning was decent enough too although I found the black pudding dried out by the heat lamps. Considering we were in Lancashire might of thought there may have been the traditional shaped pudding rather than the mass production slices. Horses for courses I suppose.

Certainly geared more for the business traveller and serves that purpose very well.

On arrival at this hotel, which took considerably longer than I first thought thanks to the Preston road network being laughable at best, I though the hotel looked decent. On arrival in my room, I thought similar, but was a wee bit disappointed at the decor being slightly 1990s. All pretty good so far.

The problem I have with this site however are the waiting staff. Of all the staff that dealt with, only the Asian lad and the bar man were of any use to me. The waitress in the evening seemed lost without her mobile phone and really couldn't care less and the breakfast staff truly were in a league of there own. Not only did the member of staff who asked for my room number unable to even wish me a good morning, but I had to return to him to request coffee as no one had been to my table to ask for the entire 15 minutes that I had been in the dining room.

As I said at the start of the review, the hotel looks nice enough, but a lick of paint doesn't cover up a massive need to customer service training.

This is the second time I have stayed here in recent weeks. 3rd floor room which is a very nice twin room. The hotel is popular with business travellers and I generally see someone from the office who I know. The Breakfast here is excellent and varied, and really sets you up well for the day. The 'Nineteen 75' restaurant is comfortable and the food is really really quite good and reasonably priced allowing 6ha e two courses and a couple of drinks us tip for just in 30 quid. There's a chef's special curry each night which goes down well with a glass of ice cold San Miguel lager. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. They genuinely smile and are keen to ensure guest have a pleasant stay. As per other reviews, the car park is small but there's free access to use the car park of the company next door until 7am so that's OK for early birds. I'm lucky enough to fly up to Preston and then use taxis so parking isn't an issue. On an evening there's live music in the bar that ranges from blues, jazz, rock, folk, and classic pop which adds a nice ambience round the bar and restaurant area. I've had some issues with the guest wifi but having informed the hotel they've provided some free premium Internet access vouchers to make up for the issues. I do like the hotel and will very likely stay here again on my next visit to Preston.

First impressions not great. Tiny car park by reception but actually the huuuuugge famous listed building that is Preston Bus Station with its extreme brutalist styling is right outside.
The man at reception could not have been more helpful in directing me to the multi-storey above there.
Along the long curving corridor to my room right at the end filled me with a 'hope the room is nicer than this' feeling.
And then - bingo! Very very odd. I fell asleep in Preston but felt like I woke up in Kyoto. Japanese style floor to ceiling sliding doors in front of the window instead of curtains.
Other tiny Japanese touches I then started to notice.
And Japanese people.
Preston is somewhat disconcerting on many levels.
