Do you find some are over sweet?
Would you like a relish or pickle that has bite and flavour but not too Hot?
If you are like me you love relishes and pickles but find some are too sweet and tend to overpower the taste and flavour.
I particularly like spicy tangy pickles so you can imagine my delight when I called into Wisebuys in Pembroke on Saturday to find a very tangy Mango, Lime and Chilli relish. And I could have a taste before I bought - Such good service!
It was not only fresh tasting, the lime really came through but also had chunks of mango and lime peel. Sweet first then Sour - refreshing lime. Despite the chilli it wasn’t too hot but had a definite kick. This relish would go very well with any Indian dish. However I tried it with a good cheddar (also from WiseBuys) and it was stunningly delicious.
The relish is made locally by "Nervous Nigel" and WiseBuys in Pembroke stock it along with other relishes from Nervous Nigel such as a Pink Horseradish – yes pink , made so by the addition of beetroot. Goes wonderfully with Venison, but I popped a spoonful into a Chicken and Leek Casserole and it perked it up no end!!
Wisebuys are packed full of interesting and tasty morsels to tempt even the mosted jaded palette. The stock is constantly changing especially seasonal produce, much of which is locally sourced. Some of the Christmas stock is now filling the shelves. Many products would be wonderful in a hamper for a loved one at the festive season. More about hampers in another blog.
